Fence Icons Reset on Computer Reboot

"Classic Icons" change to "Medium Icons" & "List" View changes to "Details" View on Reboot

Hello All! I just recently downloaded the trial version of fences to give it a try and I really like the concept and implementation and would like to keep it permanently, but there's a bug that's driving me up the wall. If I can't get it fixed, I'm going to pass on paying for this program.

The problem is this: When my computer reboots, all of the icons in my fences resets to medium sized icons, although I have them set to the smaller "classic" sized icons. Also, all of my fences that I have set to a "list" view, changes to a "details" view. This issue is very annoying and I have to change all of the fence views back every time I reboot.

Computer & Operating System:

  • Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
  • 34 Gigs Ram
  • AMD FX Bulldozer 8-core processor 3.61 Ghz
  • 3 x ATI Radeon HD 5700 - 1Gb Ram Each
  • 3 x Monitor Desktop (I only have fences on one monitor)

That's odd...definitely not happening here.  Do you have more than one login acc...that is, if so...was Fences installed for 'everyone'? ...;)

I'm sure someone will pop in with an appropriate solution...;)

No, there's not multiple users/logins. Just one. I also just tested if I could reset from a layout snapshot for a quicker fix, but loading a snapshot resets the icons and lists as well. So to explain in greater detail, if I change the views to the correct icons and list types, then take a snapshot, then load the snapshot, it will just mess it up just as a computer reboot will. Almost as though it's not saving or recording the actual "views" that I have selected.

PROBLEM SOLVED!

I've come to the conclusion that this is not a Fences problem, but rather a corrupted system registry problem.

I created and tested a new user account which works great (no icon size or list resets). I believe there may be some corrupted registry settings in the original user account. Having attempted a few registry fixes with no success, I will just migrate my account and files over to the new user account and continue on with life from there...
