Do you have Windows 8.1? If so, it sounds like you might have an older version of Fences installed. This was an issue on 8.1 with the older versions. You can sign into your account to download the most current version: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products
Maybe you have set some rules for that type of files and that fence that exclude the files from the fence? You may try and check "Sorting / organizing" in the Fences settings; this might possibly happen unintended (for testing you can deactivate simply all rules temporarily and see what happens then).
i'm running windows 7 with 2.13 fences, and i don't have any rules, the only one is that the icons go to the general desktop
That MIGHT be the problem. However, you have not much detailed informations here. But if we say you have your desktop and a fence, a rule can be set to say, for example, "new shortcuts (or any other type of files) go to desktop", they won't go to the fence. Especially when you have "keep rules applied at all times" checked. When the rule says all new items go to "Fence 1" (the name of the Fence is what you would place here), then they would automatically be moved in that Fence EVEN when you drop them on the desktop instead, as the desktop is included in the rules since it is the default location besides the fences. On top of sorting, check if there is a line saying something like "All new items go to Desktop (instead the name of your fence)" under "By default ...". That would cause such an behaviour.
It might be something else also of course.
yes i have that, and now i'm experiencing a new problem, i can't also move items into fences
is there any way i can reset everything to the way it came, like reset to factory settings or something like deleting the config file if there is one ?
UPDATE: thanks for the help but i fixed it on my own ![]()
Unfortunately there is no reset option; and if, it mostly resets everything. There is a better way: in the registry at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock\Fences" the settings of Fences are stored. If you delete the contents of the "Rules" folder there (except "(Default)", it will delete the rules set. Its good to kill the Fences process before and restart the whole system after.
