DLC

?

Can we get some DLC released now?......lol

Really I was wondering out loud if I get all DLC will I be able to play with all of it at the same time? Will they be compatible with each other, and can we turn them on and off like modds?

food for thought :pizza:

Sort of dependson how they implement it all

NOte that steam now allows you to 'disable' dlc within steam itself so even if there is no managment within the game itself, steam can 'in theory' allow you to turn on and off specific DLC if ou find it 'offensive' for some odd reason

I've never heard of DLC that aren't compatible with each other, seems like an amazingly bad idea. As for being able to turn them on and off, I'd love to see this with both DLC and Expansions, but I recognize that this isn't always possible because of the way these sometimes change the code of the base game.

Well expansions are usually updated pparts of the game with more stuff and have there own icon like DA or ToA before. But there wasn't dlc for galciv2 so I'm asking. Also Paul said something about the snathy dlc that would be separate?* IIRC.

Most DLC will probably be stuff that directly enhances the game like planet/star types/textures, ship parts, more event types, more nebula/asteroid types, new factions, etc. So those will all be compatible.

With the scenario dlc, like the snathi, it depends on how they do it. They could just make it a custom map, that is the same each time you play it, which has the benefit of easier scripting events/encounters (which i presume is how they will do the campaign). Or they could just make it a special faction/AI script that uses normal map generation, in which case all the other dlc would also work.

Or....do what civ4 did.
