No drag and drop

I'm trying to run Fences 1.01 on two computers, a 32 bit Win7 machine and a 64 bit win8.1.    It runs like a charm on win7, but as soon as it is installed on the classic desktop 8.1 machine  the computer loses the ability to drag and drop.  Fences doesn't need to run, just to be installed.  The only thing that unlocks it is to uninstall fences.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This is a problem with the older versions of Fences on Windows 8. The only way to resolve this would be to upgrade to the latest version of Fences: https://www.stardock.com/products/fences/

Somehow I thought someone would say this.  Does anyone on the forum know how to actually fix the problem?

That is the only fix.

Fences 1.x was not designed for Windows 8 let alone 8.1.  On 8.0 it will not autostart correctly and on 8.1 you have an icon drag issue due to OS changes.

In order to fix them the code needs changing and Fences 1 was obsolete before 8.0 even came out and so is not supported on that platform.
