How to trail test Fences2 without destroying Fences1

I installed Fences2 in another directory but it doesn't seem to be active while Fences1 is running.

How do I test it to see if any of the new features are useful to me while not loosing my fences 1 setup?

Next reboot enabled Fences2.

I was trying to make it act more like a menu.

I would like to click on a fence object and have it open like a menu showing all the contents.

Select an item and have it close.

 

A folder full of program short cuts doesn't make it as a fence object since it doesn't close.
