Disable Metro, Disable Modern UI

I'm running Windows 8.1 through Parallels on a Mac.  It works fine.  However, i really don't like the Metro screen nor the Modern UI apps and wish for them to go away.  I'm running Start 8 and ModernMix.  Sorry, but I have no idea what ModernMix does though I have fooled around with it's settings and unfortunately, that didn't do much for me to know what it's for.  However, I do know that I truly can't stand the Modern UI and the apps that come with it, nor can I stand the Metro screen.  Fortunately, I have it setup to default to Start 8 and I go straight to the Desktop when I boot into Windows 8.1 so that's good.  I just don't like the fact that sometimes I end up with a Modern UI app and I just wish I didn't.  Is there a way to disable or remove the Metro Screen and Modern UI apps, either through a Registry edit or some other manner?

You can actually use ModernMix to make the apps start in window on the desktop vs opening full screen. That way you can avoid going back to the ModernUI.

You can avoid using the apps, but I think it's probably better if you just windowed them completely.

Check this screenshot for an example:

And check this one too

From those, I believe you should be able to get modern apps in windowed modes. In the second screenshot you can right click the apps and tell it how you want to see it.

Hope it helps!
