Start 8 won't work

hi

 

I just reinstalled windows 8 and then windows update 8.2 and start 8

 

I've configured start 8 like normal however the start8 windows menu refuses to show up no matter what options I choose.  I also chose a custom image for start 8 start button but it's not showing up so it's like the Windows 8.1 start button takes precedence over the start8 windows start button so i cant get the start8 windows menu to show up at all in windows 8.1

 

what do i do to get start8 working in windows 8.1?

Which version of Start8 did you install?  You can see this on the about page.

It almost sounds like you have a very early version.

Also check that the Stardock Start8 service is set to run as this could also be a case of Start8 not being told to start.

I got it worked out.

 

I did this by installing a competitors product which did install and work fine.  Then I installed Start8 again and then removed the competitors start menu and that left Start 8 working as it should.

 

By the way I was using the version of start 8 that is available from my downloads page on the stardock site,  I downloaded whatever version you guys have available on our downloads page yesterday.

It sounds like the initial install went badly for some reason.

You didn't need to do that additional step of installing another product and removing it, but if it is now working for you then that's all that matters.
