HDMI Switching to Lower Screen Rez...

When using laptop to connect to a lower resolution television via hdmi, the pixels between the fences become non-existant and the fences tend to overlap. Can you fix that? I would like to be able to view my 1080p setup the same way I view a 720p setup. I want the fences to shrink to fit, but I still want to keep the spaces between them intact. None of the options available do this. 1080p fences should look the exact same as teh 720p fences.

One thing that always helps in these cases is a screenshot at both resolutions.   That way a support person can see exactly what you are talking about.   :sun:

I don't believe it has anything to do with Fences. It's all about resolution. a 1080P will show smaller text and graphics. 720P the graphics and text will look larger. This will make the spacing look different also.

Just open your Explorer window with the highest screen resolution allowed on a computer screen and look at the setup of Fences or anything else visible on the Explorer window. Now set it to a lower number and look at the changes.

another way to look at it is this. A 1080p will have a 1920x1080 resolution. A 720p willl have a 1280x720 resolution. Therefore the higher resolution will make text and things clearer and look smaller. As the resolution goes down things will be larger looking.

If you shrink a picture, everything in the picture will adjust to the window to appear the same.

If you shrink a game, everything in the game will adjust to the window to appear the same.

If you shrink a wpf program, everything in the program will adjust to the window to appear the same.

If you shrink a movie, everything in the movie will adjust to the window to appear the same.

If you look at the letters in the screenshot, they don't even shrink to fit the new resolution. Nor the icons. Each side of the fence should adjust so that the distance between them distributes appropriately compared to what the new screen dimensions are.

This launcher (nor any other launcher doesn't have those types of problems:

And if you adjust one thing while in the lower resolution before you pull the hdmi plug, when it goes back to your main screen, the fences stay jumbled up and you have to manually restore the screenshot of when it was last correct.

This is how it is supposed to look when a 1080p fences setup is auto adjusted and displayed on a lower res tv:

If not the letters or icons, then it should at least have each side of a fence be aware of where it is when the border is shifted.
