Targets per bank Research

Hey guys,  I recently started fiddling around with modding Sins Rebellion and so far I've been able to figure out what I'm doing through trial and error and long google/forum searches and seeing how other mods did things.

I just recently started editing the tech tree, and I'm curious about the Org Sins TEC trees research that increases the max targets per bank for the Starbase.  I know its possible to create research that will also increase the targets per bank for capital ships.

What I actually want to know is is it possible to increase the Targets per Bank only for certain directions?  For example, increase the targets per bank only for the forward firing weapons.

Thanks in advance for your help

Technically, there is no targets per bank system in the original Sins, it was added in the Entrenchment expansion for Starbases, so you must have at least that.

Nope. However, all entities have a line called SynchronizedTargeting for each of their weapons. Among other things, setting this to TRUE will force this weapon to only fire on one target IIRC, regardless of how many banks the target should be able to fire at. I'm not sure how this works if the weapon can fire in multiple directions.

Sorry, I should have just said the TEC research trees, I'm working with Rebellion.

So just to be clear, there is no way to increase the Targets per bank via research in Sins Rebellion?

Thanks for the quick reply.

Oh no, like you said you can increase the targets per bank of capitalships and starbases with research. However the increase will apply to all direction. The only exception is for particular weapons which can be limited to one target as I described.

That is actually wrong. SynchronizedTargeting means all shots fired from that weapon will hit the same spot on the target.

No, he's right. It also has the secondary effect of only hitting a single target per bank.

It does mean that too. Hence why I said among other things, but this effect is not relevant to this post.

yes, if all shots his the same spot then they must all hit the same unit despite the max number of targets per bank.

I literally am watching doci and war argue about this on ICO........

You mean MP players actually know that the info cards don't take number of banks into account?

Uhm...some do......

Well that's strange. It must effect beam weapons differently because I find my broadside beams fire at multiple targets even with SynchronizedTargeting true or false when the bank has more than one target.

Beams are indeed effected differently, as there are times when beams are still firing on a single target when their cooldown passes, and rather than "re-fire" on the same target, they fire at another one.

Well my beams have very short duration, shorter than the refire rate. If I set more than one target they fire two sets of beams from the one point at multiple targets...
