Windows 8 screen on startup

On reboot I get Win 8 screen

When I restart my laptop I get Windows 8 screen instead of desktop. Once I press the Windows+D keys it's fine but I thought this should not be necessary?

Do you have the setting checked in the Start8 Desktop configuration to automatically go to desktop?
