Windows 8.1, Chrome 32 (latest release) and WindowBlinds 8.02

Yet another Chrome issue

Hi!

I am using WindowBlinds 8.02 on Windows 8.1 Pro.

I just upgraded to the v32 (recent) release of Chrome. After upgrading, I noticed that Chrome has started to consume rather excessive amounts of RAM (the ever increasing RAM usage can be observed in the Task Manager, while the browser is relatively idle). In a matter of a few minutes, one of Chrome's processes would peak at ~3.3GB of RAM, at which point the browser would freeze, requiring me to terminate its processes.

Yet, when I disable WindowBlinds (i.e. switch to the default theme, while I usually use the Win8 theme), the problem is gone; Chrome RAM usage is back to normal and there are no freezes whatsoever.

As far as I'm aware, Chrome 32 introduces some UI-related changes; could there be some incompatibility?

Thanks for your time and work!

P.S. The issue described in this post is unrelated to the (still unaddressed) issue described here: https://forums.stardock.com/450020/page/1/#3433986

PavelP ...the correct course of action is to email support@stardock.com and open a ticket for support staff to respond.

Once you have contacted them please wait until you have a direct response beyond the auto-confirm reply.

If you send a second email you are relocated to the end of the queue - it's a system that prevents duplication of responses...;)

These forums are for community input where other users may have a similar issue and already found a solution...;)

I believe we have sorted a memory leak in Chrome and the next update should have it.

Additionally it should sort an issue with v33 (and possibly v32), where the titlebar stops skinning.

Hi!

Thanks, Neil. Noted.

On another note, apologies for not following the correct procedure for reporting issues. I will open tickets from now on.

I too have this issue, but am happy to find out that you're working on it, and hope this update is coming soon. Thanks! :)

I believe the latest build of WindowBlinds has corrected this. Check your version, the latest is WindowBlinds 8.03 (023 - Windows 8 Edition) - 64 bit OS

I had freezes and problems with the top frame on current chrome version.
However the freezes i encountered were repairable and not caused by windowblinds
The main issue was the adobe flash plugin
what i did to resolve
open chrome click into the navigation bar and type "chrome://plugins"
click on advanced and open Adobe Flash player dropdown and dsiable the old version ( i had two of them.) since then freezes have stopped
However the topframe issue is still a problem - topframe becomes invisable however the browser is still active and functioning.

guess it would be wise to tell you the version number i use of windowblinds
WindowBlinds 8.02 (022 - Windows 8 Edition) - 64 bit OS
and chrome
Version 32.0.1700.102 m

Hm, indeed, I'm using version 8.02, but I purchased it just recently with the Object Desktop bundle and can't seem to find a link to version 8.03 anywhere. Do you perhaps have a direct link to download version 8.03, as there doesn't seem to be any kind of "update now" button in the application settings either? Many thanks for your help and apologies, if all this is just lack of attentiveness on my part. :)

Edit: Thanks for the plugin tip, but I only have 1 version of it installed atm. There are indeed 2 files, but both belong to the same plugin version.
