Can't reinstall

One more issue:

Win 8.1 pro

I went to my account area and downloaded the installer. I went to it in my downloads folder and tried to launch the .exe--it eventually launched after a long time.

 

Down in the system tray I see "start8 Setup." If I right-click on it I can get to the start window, but when I click on it, I get an error message from "irsetup" saying "invalid start mode archive filename" and I can't reinstall.

Advice, please?

It sounds like a bad download. Try downloading a fresh copy from here: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products and then try installing again. If that does not help, do you have any antivirus software? Perhaps something else on your machine is interfering.
