Idea for a new iteam for future DLC

I was thinking about a weakness that is not being able to recreate the fog of War. So I was thinking of a hacker facility that when an enemy ship leaves the gravity well with the hacker facity around it will be as if it was never explored the lore would be the hackers would have deleted it from the enemies data banks

Ships that can cloak. Spy ships. That's what I'd like to see.

Ships that can truly cloak would indeed be a pretty significant addition. Perhaps they could even have a somewhat offensive role and be able to launch a crippling strike like a submarine (though it would need to decloak for a while after such an attack).

You can cloak ships from the AI if you use the Vasari Scout phase out ability and just allow movement (and apply this to whatever ships you desire). Of course, a real player will still be able to see the "cloaking" ship  X|

Yeah, that's why I said "truly cloak". That doesn't really count, and even if you use tricks to make in near invisible to players, the AI still knows it is there too. ;)

But cloaking is not really possible in Sins, is it?

Or is it just a question of coding it in?

I don't think it's possible at all. Even if you somehow made an effect that hid the ship, you could still see it in the empire tree or zoom out and see the ship's icon.

ok. cloaking a shitty idea. next.

I would like to know from the Devs whats possible and go from there.

I don't see why my idea wouldn't be possible

Not by modding, but the devs can change the code, so it is totally possible with the DLC. Heck, they got a tiny way there with the DLC since they allowed for meshes to appear invisible, now you just need to hide the UI stuff from other players.

Uh, really? Did not know about that. Which DLC made it possible? And what was the reason?

Perhaps its a sign of things to come :D . Even though i doubt it.

Uh, I need to stop posting late at night. I meant to say REBELLION, not a DLC, allows meshes to be temporarily invisible. It is used by the ultimate ability of the Eradica titan (mesh disappears, crazy blue particle effect plays instead).

Well I would go to. The Devs journal about why they haven't done invisibility game stability but my idea of a hacker facility that keeps planets unknown unless the enemy is there simply building on programming already there
