New transparency in Win8.1

Hi,

I am the only one who noticed that the taskbar is even more transparent in new 8.1? This kinda disrupts the harmony between taskbar and start menu. An update is needed

You can disable the taskbar transparency in Start8.  It is one of the settings on the desktop page in the Start8 configuration window.

I know and I wasn't talking about disabling it... I was trying to say that the taskbar in 8.1 is about 30% more transparent than in Windows 8. Therefore Start8 should make an update so the transparency of the start menu and win8.1 taskbar will match.

That level of transparency is likely to be too high to be usable for the startmenu.

The taskbar will only have wallpaper under it, the menu may have apps with text on screen and too high transparency would just result in an unreadable mess.

I see. So it means that most probably the menu will stay at the win8 transparency level and will not adapt to 8.1?

This isn't working for me for some reason. I used it in 8.0 to match the taskbar to the start menu and it worked perfectly, but after the upgrade to 8.1 it appears to be broken. I even tried reinstalling start8 with no results.

Is it working for anyone else in 8.1?

I just checked here on two machines and it is working correctly here.

Try toggling it on and off again just in case the UI is showing the wrong thing.

Really weird, it's not working at all for me. I ended up having to do a clean install of 8 then 8.1 again because my sound card was going insane and I still can't get the translucency to work.

Could it possibly be a video driver issue? I am using an nvidia card on the 327.23 drivers

Are you trying to make it solid or not solid as translucency would imply you wish to make it non solid.

Sorry what I meant was the 'disable translucency' setting of Start8 is not working; I am trying to make the taskbar opaque to match the start menu.

Edit: I am an idiot. I just realized the "Disable translucency" tickbox in the Style section of the Start8 config window is referring to the start8 menu itself, and the tickbox for the taskbar is in the Desktop section... Sorry for the confusion. :|

No, not an idiot. Thanks for posting that!!! I was having exactly the same misperception. The interface is very misleading, non-intuitive, and should be changed.
