high cpu usage

explorer.exe sometimes jumps to 12% usage randomly

checked using process explorer and it show decor8_64.dll is causing it.

logging out and logging fixes it. but randomly returns.

edit:

problem is on windows 8.1

Do you have Decor8 set to use the OS wallpaper and is your wallpaper changing any any chance?

I have same issue with Win 8.1.  If I kill explorer and re-launch the problem goes away for a time.  The background image I have selected it only for Decor8 and not set to change.

Likewise a problem with the Task Manager using around 20% CPU continuously. Process Monitor shows that these actions keep repeating: http://i.imgur.com/ACpEVI8.png

Yeah, I had the same problem after upgrading from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1.  This worked just fine under Windows 8, then after the upgrade I would see one of four cores on my CPU at 100% resulting in a constant 25-30% CPU utillization.  I used Process Hacker (http://processhacker.sourceforge.net/) to determine that the Decor8 service was running as a sub-process of Explorer.

I uninstalled Decor8, and my high CPU problem went away.  I guess it's a good thing that with Start8 I hardly ever use the clown puke menu.

The decor8 service never runs as a child of explorer, it is a service and thus cannot.

However we have been investigating and one reason why a cpu core would be pegged has been found and are working on an update.

I'm not trying to disagree, but when I loaded up Process hacker and dug down into the threads tab of the explorer.exe process, I saw the Decor8 service running as one of the active threads of that process, and the CPU consumption matched exactly the symptom I saw with the CPU utilization.  Maybe I'm using the wrong terminology, but the data was pretty evident.  If it helps, I'd be willing to reinstall Decor8 again and send you a screenshot of what I found, if you think that it would help you track down the issue.

I'm glad to report that the 1.07 release has fixed the CPU issue.  Thanks for getting a fix out!
