Tom Clancy, Gone at 66

Sad loss of a great author

Tom Clancy, famous for "The Hunt for Red October" and other spy, adventure and military genre novels has died (last night) at a Baltimore, MD hospital.

I loved his novels...and I will miss his talent greatly.

I remember the chatter and rumors when he released his book. He must have had access to secret sources, he was a spy, someone in the business leaked to him. It was even more interesting when his summations proved correct. If an insurance salesman from Maryland could figure it out... well.

My first home-bred Siberian husky was named from Hunt for Red October. She was directly from imported Russian lines (Russian Hunting Laika) I found the word in the last few pages. Nadeshda "hope" (надежда) Just now I see that they had a whole song that included the words, "Revolyutsii nadeshda", Hope of the Revolution. I never watched the movie, so that was fun to know. Back then I had to look everywhere to find that the English spelling in his book was correct and that it really meant hope. Of course it was. It was Tom Clancy who wrote it.

R.I.P. Tom Clancy

Athough he was better known to me by the game titles that bore his name, they had to be up to his standards.

I enjoyed both. Thank you Mr.Clancy
