Desktop Themes

What ever happened to this concept? A Windows .theme file is capable of changing any/all system icons, all the cursors, wallpaper, color scheme and sounds, and it's built right in to Windows. Why do we need IconPackager and CursorXP. WindowBlinds is the only real necessity needed, and I think that basic functionality is built in to XP as well.

I appreciate all you artists that have worked on the icon and cursor packages. I just think your work could be much more widely enjoyed if you'd share it with all Windows users, not just Stardock customers.

Windows themes only change your basic desktop icons, not all of your icons like IconPackager does. Windows cursors cannot do half the things that CursorXP supports. Windows visual styles are in a format that is protected by the operating system and doesn't allow new ones to be added, hence the need for WindowBlinds. Also, WindowBlinds allows far more flexibility, it skins more things, and it allows extra features to be added.

There is a world of difference between 'Dangerous Creatures', '!Plus', and what you will find here on this site [and similar sites].
What 'IS' possible with apps such as Windowblinds is quite impossible, or at least crippled in the base OS GUI...
