Object Desktop Control Center problems and questions

Does it work on Win7, or can you suggest a replacement?

For at least the last 10 years I've been running OD's Control Center on my company issued machine, mostly for the virtual desktop features.  My old XP machine has now been replaced by my company with a Windows 7 machine.  Desirous to not completely disrupt my work habits, I went to stardock.com, logged into my account, and downloaded the "Legacy" version available to me there.

Unfortunately it doesn't work all that well.  Even though I've tried locking certain windows to certain virtual desktops, those windows will disappear completely roughly every other time I switch between desktops (which I'm doing, by the way, by clicking on the virtual desktops).  Once gone, they are sometimes difficult to retrieve.  Even though they are supposed to be locked, sometimes they switch to another virtual desktop when I select a different window.

So, although I suspect that this product is no longer supported, some questions:

1. The version of Control Center available from my downloads is 1.9.2.  The version I was running on my old machine, previously installed via Impulse, was 2.0.  I can no longer find Object Desktop apps available on the GameStop app, is 2.0 available anywhere?  Is it possible to migrate it from my old machine?

2. Should I expect Control Center to work on Windows 7, or version 2.0 to work any better than 1.9.2?

3. If the answer to either #1 or #2 is No, can anyone recommend another virtual desktop app that I could use?

Control Center hasn't been compatible or supported in a very long time.

It's been discontinued.

Impulse was sold to GameStop years ago.  You can download all your apps from http://download.stardock.com or via Stardock Central.

Thank you for your less than helpful answer.

Can anyone else recommend any virtual desktop manager that I might be able to try?  Thanks.

I too was a faithful user of CC with VDM and successfully ran it on W7 32bit for a long time. It ran very well really so I'm not sure why yours wont. I switched to 64 bit and nothing has been quite the same without CC and the Virtual Desktops. A huge shame that. I would gladly pay extra for my VDM back. Trying to talk Jorge Coelho of Winstep into doing it  }:)  but having no luck there either.
