Can't find Internet!

Registering Windowblinds 8 Beta

from Stardock Forums

Got an email indicating Windowblinds 8 Beta was available, so I downloaded it and tried to install it.

It opened a box asking me for my email address and password -- which I provided, but then I got an error message saying it couldn't connect to the Internet!

The task bar clearly showed the icon for network connection, so I opened IE 10 -- and confirmed I could connect to this site.

I was able to work around this by providing the serial number (which I got from my profile on this site!) ...

But thought you needed to know this is a problem -- in case others mention the same thing.

Win8?

I wonder what would have happened if you tried again with IE10 open.

If you are willing to test, go to C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Registrations and rename WB8sig2272.bin to anything and then rrestart WB.

Zu means something like... WB8sigXXXX.bin or perhaps WB8sig2272.old ....;)

I presume I have to disable WB first, right? 

 

Don't want the system to crash while I'm doing this and then be unable to get back into a Win8 desktop.

Shouldn't be necessary but you can switch to the default skin if you would like.

OK, did that -- and this time, it took the login and activated WB.

Thanks for the rapid replies.

And, BTW, WindowBlinds makes Win8 worth using -- sorry, but I just really like the look of Win7 and now I have it back!
