[LH/FE] Is there a point to the Ashwake Dragon quest?

I've only managed to complete this quest in LH 0.85 so apologies if it is different in FE.

Previously, I've never managed to find both dragon eyes quest statue (Q: Would the AI start/complete it) but had all 3 spawn near my starting point in a recent LH game. I was actually quite surprised to discover that the quest to find the 2 dragon eyes did reward you with the Ashwake dragon when you have obtained said eyes, instead you had to battle three high level dragons together.

My question is... given how powerful your army needs to be to take on three dragons concurrently successfully (much less take on three dragons without suffering massive losses), well, why would you still bother doing the quest then? Probably said army is powerful enough to win the game by conquest or the Master Quest, and if not, a Level 1 Ashwake Dragon to replace all the troops you lose fighting three high level dragons will not make enough of a difference to matter (although admittedly the Fire Immunity of the Ashwake dragon makes it a good tank against the Master Quest boss).

Also, not sure if it is a known issue or intended, but in LH 0.85, you can postpone on fighting the dragon trio. The issue is that the prompt asking you to fight will then keep repeatedly popping up non-stop after almost every action (including things such as Designing Units). The quest is "At the Dragon Gate" if I am not wrong.

yeah I finished this quest in .80 and felt horribly underwhelmed with the final reward.  The dragon should be at least a level 10 dragon, and you get some cool uber weapon/armour (dragon scale armour?) for bothering to do the quest.

and yes, an army that is capable of killing the 3 dragons is also capable of wiping the map or finishing the master quest.

I would like to see the dragon eye unlock a dragon as a mount. Design it as an expendable item that either spawns a dragon mount, or changes a dragon in the army into a mount.

The dragoneye quest is difficult because it used to be the master quest in WoM and maybe early FE betas.   You used to have to fight 6 Ashwake Dragons at the need to win by master quest.   It was left in FE and adapted a bit but I do agree that just getting an Ashwake dragon at the end is not that useful by the time you are powerful enough to complete it.   I always treated it like another quest I would use to gain another level or two before I actually won by the current master quest.

I can't believe you guys are complaining about getting boatloads of experience (in the process of completing this quest), AND a dragon. Even a level 1 dragon is an army killer.

End of davrovana's quote

and it does eventually level if you treat it right.

The real trick is when do you complete it. If it's too late in the game, it loses substance.

Hello, how about making this be a timed quest from the start of the first person discovering the site.  There could even be an announcement to all the other players.  This way you could have players eventually fighting for the right to control the dragon.
