but then, since i do this to words all the time, why should names be any different?

the "irony" (for want of a better word) of what you say isnt lost on me. in a sence i am the mirror image of you. actuall it isnt really mirror image, perhaps the "logical compliment" is a better description

i have learned to be tread carefully, since, as you have found, if people get it into their heads that you are misleading them, or deliberatly trying to be something you are not they dont like it.

why cannot they see it as it really is? the "me" they see through my words is far closer to the real "me" than if they had seen me in person.

this is something that i encounter in the real world (at work) a lot. people at work just accept (for they have no real other choice) that i am "mad". the thing is i am forced into accepting an incorrect description (perhaps even label *shudder*) since this at least provides an excuse for my differences that they can accept.

perhaps it is no surprise that i often feel i prefer cats to humans

GM, it is difficult not to resort to catagorizations. Remember, there are real people on the other end. Each one is an individual. Each one lives within not only their own reality but the realities of those around them in everyday life. It is most likely that these people that surround them put them into catagories. They, in turn, put those people into catagories. To expect that by entering this medium called the internet, all that catagorizing can be turned off, is expecting too much. I think it is a basic human trait, call it instict if you will, to pigeon-hole people. It's safe, it's comforting, it's preferrable to the opposite chaos of not knowing something about the other person. If we know something about the other person, then it is easier to think of them as a person, and it then is easier to communicate with this person. Otherwise, it might just be a machine on the other end, spewing back scripted responses. As thinking, feeling humans, this is intolerable. It must be another human on the other end of the discussion, and we are always trying to prove to ourselves that it is another human on the other end. Sometimes we 'catagorize' in order to prove humanity.

That's how I see it.

Man, I must have missed a rousing topic. I'am not sure if I should enter it because I my not have all the facts. I'll just say this: I like all of you and have not catorized any of you. I also feel the pain then one of you express or hint at it. Even thou we have never meet, I still consider you friends. As such I take you as is.

You are right motion.... I pretty much have gotten used to accepting that. I have lived with that other thought process for my life long and it has pretty much left me feeling as an outsider. Try as I might, though, I have never been able to adapt another way of thinking. I am not saying that any way is wrong... I was just expressing my bemusement (I can use longer words now, I have a spell checker)

Do you know, when I have a pet, I cannot even name it? I have to live with it, let it evolve its own name. I think that it is maybe a good thing I never had children. They would have to wait until they are very old to have a name.

HEH... WOM... We were talking in generalities. Most of my message board experience has been in other places. I know you have made me feel completely at home and welcome here. I know that my difference is in me.... I was just talking in general about my experiences. I tried hard to make them as general as I could (yet at the same time, it feels a little good to discuss them somewhere.... they have been in me from a long time before) You should feel no pain, you should feel pride and happiness. Because look here.... you have an entire thread dedicated to your good nature and your wisdom. And someone like me feels able to discourse a little. I had been sorely missing a place like this.

I know, it's sad to think that someone out there has fitted us into a 'catagory', but, as long as in our own minds and hearts we see ourselves in no catagory, then that's what matters.

When we first brought home our 'fur child' Franny, we asked her to name herself. She said 'woof'. I thought that was too easy. Eventually, after about a month, she just became 'Franny'.

You mean here? We could change the color for a short time, then the paint can dried up. Some people can write with red words, I don't know how.

GM- Somtimes I feel or sense That something is wrong with someone on this thread but I refrain from asking so as not to hurt someones feelings. Also because it is on an open forum. Also because no one has met face to face. You cannot see mannerism's over the net so you have to tread a little softer this way. So I wait for the person to bring it up.

to get red words, use:
/ me then the words you want in red

just remove the first space, between the slash and the me. you nick is then inserted where the slash me was. if there arent any words after the me, then it doesnt work.

also watch out for saying win98 / ME, since if you remove the spaces you get lots of red words
