Wise and myself have made it this far without making any skins yet(well i tried once). We comment on skins and Wallpapers. Help Newbies find their way...well...helping everyone out for that matter. You don't have to subscribe to the site or buy the programs. But i will tell you this, it is well worth it.

i sure do like you WasupBoy and SuPeR... you make some really nice things ... i'm stumped on the logons; after vacation, will have to figure that one out

Goodmorphing thinks maybe one day WasupBoy will need a name change.... WasupGuy, or WasupMan....

I was thinking I will retire Fishie.... I never do good using other peoples stuff. It never feels good... So one day soon, there will be a squiggle there. OR maybe a collection of fins and tails... I kind of like them most. Since it would never be uploaded... least it would be MY squiggle...... Have good days and nights peoples.... and a good vacation motion and LadyWolf.

heh... but it will be an ever evolving squiggle......

i have finaly got around to checking my home email, and have picked up the email GoodMorning!

thanks for that! i was curious to start with, part of my nature i suppose

i just love the great big cuddy pussy cat one!

on a more technical front, i am fascinated that you have wrapped all of those parts into a single valid file format that is understood by IE.

HEH... feline, you know what? I did all that in Outlook Express. You can do that... if you have it in source edit mode, just erase everything in that part, do your scripting (there are all kinds of free scripts you can find). Previewing is a snap, just click the preview tab. Then when you are done, you have an option of saving the file as an .eml file, or as an .mht file. Mht files function as a web page, but if you upload one, people can download them in .eml form and use them as outlook express stationery. Mht files, I understand, are understood by more browsers.

I think Outlook Express is my favorite HTML editor.

somewhere back in the history of this thread there were a couple of interesting comments.

from memory, GoodMorning said that she/he ( <- i am in a particuarly orquard and playful mood) deliberately chose a name / nick that wasnt clearly male or female.

someone else (i dont rememeber who) said that this sort of thing doesnt matter, since you can always (i think they said always anyway) tell.

i find both of these statements facinating. but then, i have been at the centre of more than a few posts about who / what i am, so this is hardly a surprise.

if this part of the thread is still alive, i am curious as to GoodMornings take on all this, especially given you also suffer from dual signiture's in you emails

/me thinks something strange is going on
someone else is in this thread at the same time as i am

what an interesting thought, outlook express as an html editor. work forced me to learn vi when i started, and now i tend to edit everything in vim. bit of a steap learning curve though

this is a really good editor, honest. true it will be about a week before you can even edit a short text file safely, but give it a couple of years and you will be a wizz

My take? I think I am really a strange person. I find myself not even making assumptions about people until it is brought up. I thougt it would be the very greatest thing about the internet that people could present somewhere as faceless, classless.... I thought ideas, thoughts, interactions would finally be all equal. IT was a major dissapointment for me to find otherwise. It was a major disappointment to find people still intent on catagorizing people, trying to compartmentalize them and tie them down to some image. It seems to me, once they do that then they can go on and ignore some people, or discount them. I thought the internet would finally give voice to all people.

I love internet names.... there are so many good ones out there, and so little time to wear them all. I have a few others I go by....

To tell you the truth, when I saw the name feline and read all your delightful posts, I imagined not a person at all. Did you ever read Alice Walker's "In the Temple of my Familiar"? I kind of saw you as a message-board familiar.

flatterer!

i havent actuall read that book, but the mental image it is cugoring up is quite appealing

Doreen seems to have given up trying to cagegorise me, and has concluded that i really am a cat

so much of what you say rings true for me as well. at work they seem to have concluded that i am an alien reptile, having long since eliminated the idea that i was a sane human like them

the other side to this though is that humans seem to think in compartments. from watching people i would guess that men are more prone to this than women. remember that the internet seems to have far more men than women on it, so this is a very common practice.

the (to me) depressing part of this though is that so many people seem to lend themselves into being slotted into compartments. where are all the individuals?

there have been studies (i have seen reports on them in the NewScientist magazine) that say that on the internet people are much free'er to be themselves, and arent tied down by the steriotypes of their appearance, etc.

as for a voice to all people, that really seems to depend on where you are. in most groups you have to earn the right to a voice that is listened to. but in that process you need to try and avoid being clasified away and ignored.

at times like this i find it helpful to snort *humans* under my breath, and be thankful that there are other, more interesting, people out there. to me this is the great strengh of the internet. it allows the interesting and unique people to find each other!

To me, it seems like for some, there is this sense of a great void when approaching the internet, so it is natural to reach for catagories and definitions to anchor oneself down, to define a "landscape" where one feels comfortable. It is natural, and understandable, and maybe necessary. On the other hand, once having done that, and having done it wrong.... it is a hard thing to catch the blame for someone's error (I never asked anyone to see me as male, so it was not my fault that they did.... and it was not reasonable to hold me responsible for their infatuations... but it changed the flavor of the group).

I was kind of a different thinker my life long. A different kind of learner. I wish I had been comfortable with that a long time ago.... I think as young people it is hard to live with "differences" and then it is hard, growing up and looking back to learn that the difference was actually quite a good thing (for the different person) and would have been a treasure just to relax into it and be.

To reach out, to sound your voice and be heard, and then have that sense of you be incorporated into the name you have chosen... that seems the natural and desirable way of things, to me. Not to have the name seen, a catagory or image establlished so that the words can be heard. And yes, you do need to sound your voice well and clear to be in that postion. Such as you did with feline.
