[Balance] Tactical Battles and AI mana

I've been thinking about how to get the AI to cast more spells in combat. Like most resources, it seems like the AI just does't have the mana to cast spells. So, my question is, is there a way to create spells that are accessible to ONLY the AI? If the AI doesn't have mana for tactical battles, I'm wondering if an autocast 'spell' at the beginning of the battle that gave the AI some amount of mana would open up the AI to casting stuff in combat. But, such AI only spells doesn't seem possible. There may be post-battle strategic implications with this, but it's a starting point. Thoughts?

I think its much easier to give AI some mana pool when it enters any battle on top of what he owns by natural in game accumulation. I think 60 - 70 mana pool woud make you to see AI in action. After combat this temporal pool should be gone again.

Agree, this would make tactical more interesting.

I'm not in favor of giving the AI an unfair advantage. It's likely the reason they don't have mana is because they're casting strategic spells and/or not prioritizing generating it.

Is it even a problem with mana? I know I can hit auto-resolve and my highly magical sovereign just runs up with his stick to do melee, surely the AI is at fault here.

It's not just mana, I think you're right. There's more to the problem.

Yeah, i guess it is the AI, because not a single strategic spell (pillar of flame, freeze, ...) was cast on my units in all games that i played (hard difficulty).

This is a partial secondary effect of the AI not having tactical mana, which used to be in E:WoM and was removed, for somereason I still do not completely understand.  With two distinct mana pools you would completely avoid the issue of strategic mana sucking up all your mana for tactical spells and vice versus.  This is something I would like to see be able to be re-added.  As it is we can not re-add a tactical mana supply until some more functionality is unlocked for the engine including certain AI functionality.

I noticed, if I use quickresolve for battle, my champions use up mana like crazy. That's interesting, why the KI decides to use magic in quick battles but not in usuall. However monsters who have spells (which are probably abilities) allready use them in tactical battle. So it's kind of a strange behaviour.
