Windowblinds wishing list

Windowblinds wishing list

I thought about openning this thread to be used as a direct line with windowblinds developers, for us to place here wour wishes, bug reports, etc...

So, let me make my number one wish.

When we use transparency on scroll bars, it allways have problems on IE and Outlook Express, showing a blank image on it's borders.

Is this just a bug or it will be allways like that? This is really anoying, because users thinks that it is a skin bug, when it is not.

Could you guys over Stardock fix that?

David and Alex: Well, I am skinning wb using maybe the latest SkinStudio version and it still doesn't change the content margins of the vertical taskbar buttons.

Maybe it's broken again in the new build. I haven't tested it since the newest one came out. It was the button margins that messed me up before, plus the content margins. When I would set margins for the vertical taskbar buttons they would affect the horizontal buttons and not the vertical ones. I finally made a vertical taskbar that would work with no margins. I'll check it out later when I get my XP box up.

It seems to be working here Renato... I'm running WB 3.4d and the vertical taskbar margins (button and content) are applied correctly. I haven't tried Skinstudio but that shouldn't matter since it was WB not applying the settings right that was broken.

I would also like for Windowblinds to apply an Iconpackager theme again. It has not worked on Win98 or Win 2k for me since the Iconpackager program was changed over to a new version back last winter. And, I would like to have the top 2 rows of pixels back on the tab border. (I don't know where they went, but they are missing now on all the themes I have.)

My Requests
-----------
By kwyjibo.

-Context menu 'magic purple' transparency.
-Vertical alignment of XP Start menu User Icon text
-Ability to specify font name, size, colour for every windowmetric that exists. Such as the context menu font, desktop icon font, tooltip font, Menubar font...
-Text entry/editbox skinning (sort of like comboboxes)
-Inner border skinning. ie: Open a copy of notepad with any skin running and you'll see an indent all around the program, surrounded by the skin, separating the scrollbars from the window edges.
-Spinner glyphs
-Combobox scrollbar skinning
-We have normal, top, and bottom menuitem bmps. Sometimes only a single item exists. menuitem.single would be nice...
-Classic XP start menu skinning, like context menus...
-Static(non-moving) scrollbar texture overlays, preferrably translucent, with different blend modes.
-Animated progress bars.
-Option to choose which state of a normal button is animated. ie: focused, default, or mouseover...
-Animated radio/checkbox mouseovers OR state changes, to create smooth transitions between on/off states. Perhaps a setting to automatically transition between two static images by fading them, like Sonique v1.x did with its play/pause/etc buttons
-Ability to overlay magic pink transparent images anywhere inside a window, overtop of its contents.
-Perhaps a separate scrollbar section for IE so that non IE scrollbars can take full advantage of TARGA transparency, while a secondary crap scrollbar could be included by skin authors for IE
-Better/Consistent/Intelligent tab skinning regardless of the type of tab a window is using. There seem to be two styles of tabs in Windows. Thicker tab borders would be great. Fully skinnable tab borders, not just the outer 3px.
-Proper MDI titlebar button behaviour and spacing. They don't wait to be unclicked. They respond immediately, and their spacing is quite wide apart.
-Titlebar button targa support. Targa support everywhere!
-Variable height/width XP taskbar.
-Transparent (magic purple) XP taskbar.

Actually, WindowBlinds does support that right now. But to enable it, you have to add "UsesTran=1" without the quotes in the Personality section.

I wan't the sliders to be skinnable, the ones in the volume controls, you know?
Also I want a way to skin the explorer bars, optionally by linking to a shellstyle.dll.

And font loading as well.

evey time i start up a new window, the window is not skinned, i wish that it could be fixed

- PNGs instead of Targa.
- PNGs everywhere.
- Making the skinned buttons in IE on XP use the correct text color (maybe you fixed that already?).

More requests:

Additional Scrollbar Tray click states. Instead of a single state regardless of whether the up/down (or left/right) scrollbar button is pressed, i'd like the scrollbar tray to display a different image for these states:

up button pressed
down button pressed
the vertical tray itself is clicked
the vertical scrollbar is clicked/dragged

left button pressed
right button pressed
the horizontal tray itself is clicked
the horizonal scrollbar is clicked/dragged

Perhaps this would be a Skinstudio & Windowblinds request: the ability to import stylexp skins. There are some nice skins out there, but I don't want to install StyleXP to use them.

-Ghost scrollbar dragging like Mac OS 8/9. While dragging the scrollbar, it appears translucent, while an opaque image remains in its previous position on the scrollbar tray.

-Alpha-blended window borders, like Winamp3, for those of us that prefer eye-candy over performance. Probably wouldn't notice with good video drivers, right? This would make those round skins look sweet...

-Dialog bitmaps that don't tile improperly or have their tiling messed up by what's inside the window. Maybe have some kind of intelligent tiling that detects what's in the window and where, and tiles the image on every window item, based on that item's position. Eye-candy vs Performance, right? If performance is the issue, I'm sure it won't be for long with the speed hardware advances. Plus, people can always turn off a feature if they don't want it.

-Skinnable Tooltips! Nobody has noticed this?

-Skinnable BSOD? Just kidding.

This might be a strech and/or I may be stupid and this is already implemented but:
Ability to completely (ie startmenu in classic and xp mode, tooltips, icons, etc etc) skin the whole OS, to make it seem like another whole OS. No matter where I look in the Psudo-OS windowblinds area, I don't see something that's completely different. I would like this because: the only reason I use Windows is because I'm too lazy to DL something else and too lazy to learn Assembly/C/C++ to create my own OS (yeah right ) so WB is what I use instead. Er...yeah ok EOR (end of rant)
Please?

In Windowblinds' treeview [+/-] skinning, the dotted line connecting the subsections is missing. The ability to skin this would be nice.

I'm back. Another feature request:

The ability to specify what buttons are available on a scrollbar, and where. Such as: Both up and down arrows at the bottom, like many other OS's do. Or having up/down arrows at both ends of the scrollbar.

Another request:

Chunked progress bars with user-definable chunkiness. Ie: skinner can specify in his UIS file that there be a new chunk of progress displayed every 10 pixels... or 12 pixels...
