Can we get a no-raze option please

Just that, for the AI and player obviously, not only for the player!

 

You determine your own priorities Stardock, like spending significant time on improving shadows, but don't forget that the people who post there are your most loyal fans, the ones who can produce mods and thus keep the community alive, for example.

And it seems many there don't appreciate the slightest that major cities can be insta-razed by monsters. So please consider proposing the option to disallow any razing.

If monsters are victorious, just kill them and skip the call in the code where the city is destroyed. If you can find 5 mn to reduce its population or penalize with a gilden loss the faction, then that's better, but this is not mandatory, if you are short of time.

One thousand million times this.  There's an injury system on champions to prevent people from ragequitting due to random events.  I'm not sure why monsters raze cities to the ground and salt the earth.  It's frigging infuriating.  Sometimes, OFTEN, there is nothing you can do to stop Mr. Angry Dragon from wiping you out.  Injure me for building near a dragon lair.  Have the DRAGON take the city.  Maybe I need to beat him to get my city back.  Fine.  That'd be awesome, actually.

But don't destroy the city and have the dragon rampage on.

Perhaps, if the 'No-Raze' option is active, instead rampaging monsters destroy X number of buildings at randon, where X is dependant on the strength of force attacking the city. (weak, strong, deadly, etc)

Yeah i'd love something, anything - other than insta-raze.  Not just for monsters, for when you lose a city to another faction also.

If raze has to be instant, maybe make it so razing doesn't completely wipe out all trace of the city.  Destroy 50% of buildings and population instead or something.  Or as suggested maybe the amount of buildings/population destroyed is based on army/monsters strength.

I wouldn't mind seeing a "pillage" kinda option too.  A lot of TBS have 3 choices when you take a city:

1) Occupy

2) Pillage (gives you gold, causing minor damage)

3) Raze (causing major damage)

Something along those lines would be awesome, particular given the focus on the strategic gameplay in FE/LH... insta raze is a rather unstrategic gameplay element.

Whatever is easiest... But still keeping insta-raze as an option (for the hardcore crazy people) would be ideal.

Hopefully this can get on the think-table at Stardock   :grin:

any "upgraded" settlement (city/fortress/conclave) should be razed down "one level".

 

only a settlement should be burned to the ground.

 

This means a level 5 City would have to be "sacked" 5 times to be "razed".

 

I also hate it when I am winning a war and an AI ragequits, and razes all of its own cities, especially when i tell it NEVER quit.

 

I wouldn't mind if I could make it my subject and vassal it or something but AI raze-quit suicide is gay.
