Search capabilities of Start8

from Stardock Forums

Hi - i am seriously considering to purchase "Start8" but is concerned over the search capabilities of "Start8".

Is it safe to say that in terms of the "SEARCH" capabilities, Start8 is

 - as good as Windows 7's "SEARCH" capabilities ???? or 

 - as good as Windows 8's "SEARCH" capabilities ????

You can use a trial version of Start8 for 30 days which should allow you to compare the searches.

If you do find any issues please let us know so we can look into addressing them.

Thanks for the fast reply. But do the "SEARCH" capabilities of Start 8 is comparable to that of Windows 7? It will be great if you can give us, potential customers, the assurance so that we can purchase with confidence.

Start8 uses Windows indexing . . so it should be as good.

Thanks for the reply. Another question, when can we use ObjectDock in Windows 8? Do StarDock plan to bring Object Dock to Windows 8?

It doesn't search through Outlook items like in Windows 7, unfortunately.

It will be great if Stardock is able to address this concern that it is not able to search through Outlook items like in WIndows 7. Honestly, Start8 is already a superb piece of software. It will definitely get kick up one notch if Stardock is able to enhance its "SEARCH" ability. My job requires me to search for tonnes of things in Windows 8.

Outlook search results should show in the files and folders section IF you have it set to search non standard locations in the Start8 settings, but obviously other file based results may show too.

We are adding in support for a new mail category in the search results for the next update.
