Texture upload

how to?

Could some nice person explain the upload procedure for textures. I started to upload but stopped for fear of doing it wrong. I have a skin coming out that the textures were made for but did not want to just apply one to the skin and upload. I have two textures and need to know if I just upload a zip with the two textures as TGA files or some other type? Also, do I just post a screen of the texture or on a skin? I sized them like what I saw in the textures folder and need assistance from here on out if someone would not mind explaining. Thank you , DoorTech1.

dt, I suggest going to the texture gallery https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/windowblinds_textures and download one or two and see what is included and in what format/size. Also, you should be able to determine what the screenshot should include from there. :)

From anywhere, just click on Explore at the top of the page. You will find the Textures Gallery at the bottom.

or, just use the link.;)

DoorTech1,

You into textures too? Wow! Next you'll be getting into DX and SMX and DSCP's and TLS and RL's and RM's and.....

*wise cracking forums stepchild* What a moniker.

Brian you also need the texture file and have to change it in 3 places with the name of your texture. Also have to zip it and change the .zip to another name. If you PM me with your email address I will send you the file and the full instructions.

NOTE: You just can't zip the graphics and upload them as it won't find the correct windowblind texture directory. They need another file with them.

Textures range between 2 pixels on up...depending on how you want them to tile...and can be named yourname.tga or yourname.texture then just zip them up and upload to the Windowblinds Textures gallery.

Or you can just listen to Dave since he's probably done this before. :P

Actually they are a year old but doing fine and still getting downloads. You did a nice job on them.

Ok, here is the best way so everyone know so no email address needed Brian.

First you want to get a .Texture file and it's located in this directory C:\users\Public\PublicDocuments\Stardock\WindowBlinds\Textures  =- Now this directly is for win 7 but sure you can find it on another OS. Right click it and save it to your folder or somewhere. It will open in notepad nd you will see 3 locations that say image. Replace the name in there and put in the name of you graphic in all 3 places. Must be exactly the same name as your's.

All you need to do is take any image you want to use as a texture and re-size it to 512x512. Use Photoshop or another capable photo editor to save the file as a tga file. Now take any of those image files and open it up using notepad. It is just a text file. You will see a few lines but 3 of those lines contain the image name. Just rename those with the name of the tga photo. For example if your tga is called sea waves.tga make sure those 3 lines have the same name. Then just save it. Rename the image file and the tga file to anything you want but make sure they have the same name. Then zip the image text file and tga file and change the extension to .wba. You now can load it in WB and it will show up as a new texture.

Thank you everyone. Dave, I have done all of that and went to the site to uoload last nite and was shocked to see such little activity  as far as dowloads or uploads. Looked like 5 pages only of textures. Is that right? Maybe I am wasting my time on doing textures.

AS for the second file, the texture file, I opened one last nite to examine and took the approach of making the texture, applying to my skin, then using the file WB created for me. Next time ,if I continue, I will just rename the three lines. Sounds easier.

Thank you Dave , all of you, great help, very speedy also.  Guess I will upload and see, why not.Have a great day all.

Uvah, I do not know what all those abbreviations even are, LOL. NO, I will stick with what I am doing, but textures are interesting and thought I would share. No more work, please.JOking also, love all aspects of skinning and wish I never had to sleep eat work or use the toilet. then I could keep at it.

FYI, the dropdown menu from the explore tab, does not list textures, that is why I could not find them.

It's listed under "Windowblind Textures"...and looks like 2 entries because it doesn't all fit on the list...and if you don't see it there...scroll down the explore list to "customize" and check it in the list. ;)

If you enjoy making them it's not a waist of time. As long as there are a few downloads than someone is using them.

Unless you are a WC subscriber, I don't think that feature will work. You also need to be logged on .
