Acolyte Corvette vs. Seeker Scout in a 'Ship of the Line' Role

Hello all,

I have been playing around with the Corvette Class Ships from the various races, and am quite impressed with their role as Quick Response and Interdiction Craft.  I have noticed that in the TEC and Vasari fleet, they can use their abilities to work well as a light 'Ship of the Line'.  The Shuriken slows the enemy down, the Stilat makes them more vulnurable to missile/autocannon assault, and the Tolsurak/Sulsurak make it harder for the enemy to recover from assault.  Moreover in the TEC and Vasari Fleets, there is nothing that fills quite the same role as a counter because the Scout Class vessels are either very fragile or very expensive.  The equation that I have seen before is:

LRF > LFG > FLAK > Corvette or Scout > LRF

In the Advent Fleet:  The Acolyte  and the Vespa seem to lose out in the fleet support (anti-LRF)  role against the lowly Seeker Scout because of the Seeker's inexpense, toughness, and (Fleet Supply Point vs. Fleet Supply Point) single direction aggregrate firepower.  It seems that for 6 Fleet Supply, especially in the early game, 3 Seekers > 2 Vespa/Acolyte.  This means that except for a small Quick reaction squadron, (For chasing down the odd escaping capital ship or attacking Siege Frigate)  I rarely use Advent corvettes at all.

Have I missed something?

Debuffs, speed, and they're immune to most titan abilities. In a strict anti LRF role Seekers maybe better, but against anything else corvettes are probably better.

GoaFan77,

Thanks for the intel.  I tried it both ways, and eventually the corvettes won out.  In fact for a short time in a recent game, my fleet consisted of 25 Vespa Corvettes escorting an Eradica Titan.  (The Pesky enemy killed my Cap Ships, and I had scuttled the Cap Factory, so...)  This worked amazingly well.  So while I am still working out the fleet balance details, I can see  the clear advantage in speed and ability that the Advent Corvettes bring to bear.

This is not accurate Goa. Whats the matter? Did his analysis bore you to the point you found no justifiable reason to explain things to him?

Paragon you have to look at the corvettes stats to understand why they are superior to scouts.

Seekers are not cap killers, not titan killers and not light frigate or flak killers. To be truly supreme you have to compliment seekers with other types of frigates like the deciple or have seeker+ illum fleets. The cost can be severe but if you play it right you can beat most opponents.

Corvettes sacrafice hull and shields for 3 weapon types that target all armor types. There weakness is also complimented by the fact they can use abilities that even target titans. seekers are not effective in the long-run but corvettes are. Infact the firepower of corvettes is more than three times of a seeker compared to the seeker having just about twice the hull and shields.
