number of recent files separated by application

Hello,

is it possible to increase number of recent files "under" pinned application like MS Excel, MS Word etc?

I mean there is possibility to increase number of shown recent APPs and number of recent documents for pinned APPs in the Win7 start menu option.

Now in START8 there is only option for number of recent aplications.

Thanks

I am sorry, forgot to mention there are recent files (jump list?) limited to 10 files.

for example:

If I pin Excel nto start menu, I can see 10 recent XLS files under it. If I pin 7 files in this menu, I can see only 3 last used files - and it is not enough (i daily open 10-20 spreadsheets and would like to see them in this menu...)

Is that possible?

Thanks

If you install v 1.09 beta 2 you should find you can control the number from the taskbar properties window. Right click on the taskbar and I think it is the second tab.

I do think I just read "1.09 beta 2". Ok, you got me, now where is the download link to this second beta? :dur:

Laurence

Never mind, I found it: just had to log into my account and have a look in my downloads section.

my START8 in about page says it is 1.1 Beta.

If I right click taskbar, go to second tab, I can configure only number of pinned items in the strart menu.

I need to set different option:

If you pin Excel to the start menu, you can see last used files under it. In Windows 7 you can manage number of these used files separately.

there is no option to do it now.

EDIT: Well, foud the BETA2 download too and after this install it works.....THANKS, it was very important to me....

You need beta 2 of 1.1/1.09 which says 1.1 BETA 2 in the about page.

If you have purchased Start8 this can be downloaded from My Downloads on the store.

If you right click on the taskbar and select properties from the menu provided a dialog should open with tabs.  The second tab is called "Jump lists" and the very first option controls the number of recent items to display in Jump Lists.  This defaults to 10.  If you adjust this and have the later Start8 beta you will find the number of recent documents increases.  I should stress this is not the Start8 configuration screen, but the operating system one.  You can also access this by searching for Taskbar properties I think.

This setting used to be on the start menu settings next to the number of recent applications, but obviously with the removal of the Start Menu the options had to be moved and Microsoft opted to put the setting on a Jump List page.  The name for the recent documents list being a jump list.
