Dual Graphics Cards

Only working on one Card not the Other

Hello, i'm currently playing around with the trial, thinking about buying WindowFX, Definately will if i can get this working properly.

I have 2 Graphics cards, an ASUS GTX580 Connected to 2 Monitors, one is the main screen, and an ASUS GTX550 Ti connected to 1 monitor.

WindowFX works just fine on the 2 monitors connected to the 580, even if i drag a window from one of these 2 to the 3rd screen attached to the 550, the window will continue to wobble on the 3rd screen.

However, if is open/close drag a window originating on the 3rd screen, there is no animation, and for dragging, the window just disappears until I let go of the mouse button.

Is there a way i can get WindowFX to be rendered on the 3rd screen by the 550 as well as the 580?

Thanks.

Good question, as I am about to add a second gfx card and a 4th monitor.

Window FX is working fine for me on 3 monitors, third monitor hooked up via usb (display link).

Interesting it works accross all 3 of yours when using a USB display link adapter.

Thought that would still be rendered by your GPU, whereas in my case, my third monitor is rendered by my second GPU, which I guess WindowFX doesn't seem to realize exists.

I now have two cards installed, both nVidia. Got rid of display link. Now WinFX isn't playing so well.

If I drag a window on monitor 3, it disappears, until I let go of it. Start menu doesn't animate. Nothing. No animations at all.

No right click menu animations, etc.

Cool, let me know how it turns out.

I found this page through a google search

"Possibly fix for configurations with multiple discrete graphics cards"

Not sure if the version i'm running is a release version of these BETA notes or not. as they're a little dated.

Granted it does say 'Possibly' but at least i think this indicates they're away of an issue.

Zubaz, all due respect, with DisplayLink a third monitor works great with WFX....just a tad choppy. And as Wiz points out, Stardock says "Possibly fix for configurations with multiple discrete graphics cards" in this post.    https://forums.wincustomize.com/420113

Multiple discrete gfx cards equals up to 4 monitors.

Well, found out my current video cards are not even DirectX 11 compatible and that is probably why I am having Aero/DWM issues at times. So out with the old and in with the new when they get here! Getting a couple of these:

EVGA GeForce GTX 560 Superclocked 2048 MB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 2DVI/Mini-HDMI SLI Ready Graphics Card

Definitely going to run them in SLI mode too. :)

Edit:  I bought used ones, that new item price is way too much for me!

What if each graphics card you have supports 3 monitors, or 6 monitors by itself?

[EDIT] That's neither here nor there, but I think the point is, I can't see it being limited to 2 monitors, that just seems like an odd notion to me. Limited to one GPU on the other hand, while it would be unfortunate, it makes more sense to be the case. However given this "Possibly fix for configurations with multiple discrete graphics cards", i think multiple GPUs should be possible.

To my knowledge, a card with 3 outputs will only allow use of 2 at a time.

My old 5870 could run 3 monitors by itself, though one absolutely had to be using the display port, i couldn't have 1 HDMI and 2 DVI like that, so i had an active display port -> DVI connecter.

I"m pretty sure the new nvdia 600 series cards support 3 monitors from one card.

there is also this version of the 5870 with 6 display ports to support 6 monitors.

Display Ports, yes. But not GPUs normally. I have a card with 3 outputs. A nVidia GTS 450 FPB, but it can only use two ports at a time. It has 2 dvi, one hdmi.

Display Ports are a whole nuther animal.

This isn't true.  The ATI boards since the 5xxx series have allowed you to use all three of them at once.  I have such a setup here.

As Grugginator says one of them needs to use the display port connector, but that can be converted into HDMI / DVI if required.  I had no such need as one of my monitors has a display port connector.

Yeah, but without display port, can a 3 output card use all 3?
