Ability to drag/create shortcuts out of Start Menu

I can't right-click drag anything out of the start menu to create a shortcut on the desktop like in windows 7. There isn't even an option to pin to desktop ... so I am sorta lost on how I can get shortcuts on my desktop without manually creating them from the desktop. If I left-click drag it sometimes gives me an option to Move to desktop ... but I don't want the actual file on the desktop ... only a shortcut to it.

If you get a move option, hold down the alt key which should make it create a shortcut instead (as per standard windows conventions).

Right click dragging has been added in for a tiny update, but I don't know if that will go out this week or next.  I will find out and update this thread.

Update: the tiny update went up last night.  You can obtain it from the store if paid, or redownload trial if not.

Check for updates will not see it right now.

I downloaded Start8 v.1.03a, uninstalled v.1.03 via Program and Features in Control Panel, installed v.1.03a. Tested the change: "Added in support for right click dragging off the startmenu to create shortcuts on the desktop" and it does work on the "Start menu (Start8)" menu, so now as far as that goes it works as advertised {and that you can drag a shortcut from the Desktop and place it on the "Start menu (Start8)"}; however there is still no RMB dragging and dropping of any kind from the All Programs menu (so as to create shortcuts or whatever. . .) - is this also going to be implemented?

Regarding the All Programs menu I know that by using the LMB on its own you can move the shortcut to the Desktop, and that by pressing the Ctrl key before releasing the LMB it will copy the shortcut to the Desktop, or by pressing the Alt key before releasing the LMB it will create a new link/shortcut on the Desktop.

But when using any of the three LMB actions from the All Programs menu, if you decide not to complete the action, and while still holding down the LMB return it to the All Programs menu and then release the button it creates an unwanted shortcut on the "Start menu (Start8)" menu, which you have to then unpin. I know that while still holding down the LMB if you change your mind and decide to cancel any of the three actions you can press the Esc key and it will cancel the action {and no shortcut will be placed on the "Start menu (Start8)" menu}.
