Hero Level upgrade options (Knowledge same as Potential III)
I've seen it now three times when a hero upgrades, Knowledge and Potential III show up at the same time as options.

Knowledge is either rare are uncommon, and they definitely stack. I don't know if Pot 1, 2 & 3 stack because the descriptions in the game are...well, total crap and there is no place to see your exp bonus. But, I tested it and knowledge definitely stacks with potential. There is no Knowledge 2, so it's a nice one time boost. If you get it anywhere close to the beginning of the game Pot 1 and Knowledge along with say, the Practice Sword (9 attack +10% exp), can get you ticking up levels pretty nicely.
I think his point is, it cuts down on your choices to get two identical upgrade options for the same level. Sure if you want 25% experience (which is a great bonus) it's great to have at least one of them show up, but if you wanted something else, it's redundant that two of your choices are taken up by identical perks. Ideally you'd get exactly one of those two show up, along with 4 very different things in case an experience bonus wasn't what you were looking for.
Yeah, is like Quick and Fast for the initiative, although this time is +1 and +2 I think. I guess that it is a way to access to those bonus easily among all of the rest of upgrades
The two operate the same, however they are different.
Potential 3 is available to all champions, however, Knowledge is only attainable by Path of the Mage champions.
Also, Potential 3 is only available if you have taken Potential 1 and then Potential 2.
If you have a Path of the Mage, andyou don't want heaps of + exp (they all stack), then you can choose just to get Knowledge, which gives you +25%, rather than P1, and P2 (which will give you a bit highe than 25%) which chews up 2 levels rather than 1.
You can always edit the amount of perks shown per level up. Just edit the value in the ElementalDefs. The line you are looking for is
<UnitLevelUpPerkOfferCount>5</UnitLevelUpPerkOfferCount>
Just change 5 to the number you want shown per lvl. I've been using 6. I noticed that this does have a problem of making more options at lvl 4 then just the Path perks. I don't know if this will mess up the AI's champs or not. I haven't looked into it yet.

That's the issue, I'm getting both upgrade options (Knowledge and Potential III) at the same time! They both do the same thing and give the same bonus.
And they are both worth taking, but you should get Potential III, because it's rarer.
There are multiple abilities improving the same stat in the ability pool. The fact you got both at the same time is just coincidence, they are picked from the pool randomly.
