[Request] Option to hide Metro Apps

Although the Metro interface is growing on me a little bit, I still prefer Start8 most of the time.  I want to have all of my desktop apps that I use most to show up in the recent apps list, just like Win7. However, since Start8 shows "Modern UI applications" in the menu as well, whenever I end up using the Metro interface and playing with the apps, they override my desktop apps and show up in the list.  I then have to manually remove them from the list, and this is something i'd rather not have to do every time.  Can an option be added to hide the metro apps from Start8, or at least from the recent apps list?  I prefer my Start8 menu to control the desktop apps only, and consider/use the metro start page as an extra "dashboard" like feature, and don't really want them to intermingle.  I know this is probably not how other people use it, but an option would be nice.  Thanks for looking!

I'd also like an option to not show any of the Modern UI apps in the Start8 menu except for the Windows 8 Menu option as I can easily switch to the Modern UI Start screen if I need to use any apps. Having the Modern UI apps showing in Start8 just makes an already packed menu even more cumbersome for me. If I manually set the Properties for the shortcuts to Hide in Start8 then those apps are hidden in the Modern UI Start screen as well. Not ideal.

If you add the following registry key you will find the modern UI applications do not show in search or in all programs.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock\Start8\Start8.ini\Start8

HideMetroApps = 1

The type should be REG_SZ.

This does not hide them from recent in v1.02 but will also do so for v1.03 and up.  If you want to remove an app from the recent apps list, just right click on it and pick remove from this list.

That's awesome! Thanks!

The only problem I see with this is that it's a hidden registry change.  That's fine and all, but now i'm wondering how many other secret options are hidden in the registry settings that I would find useful, but I don't know about.  Is there a list somewhere?

In my opinion the Desktop option "Hide Modern UI applications from the Windows 7 style menu" should be in the configure menu "What would you like to see on the menu?".

Because there is the option "Show recently used applications" and "Highlight newly installed applications" and logically "Hide Modern UI applications"

First I thought what do you mean with the option "Hide Modern UI applications from the Windows 7 style menu", what is a "Windows 7 style menu"?

End of thomas-k's quote

It was put where it was due to lack of room on that screen.  I agree it would be more logical elsewhere but it was a last minute decision to expose the option as a checkbox rather than a hidden registry key.
