Invisible Effects

Worked at first, but then it stopped working... - V.5.0 + Beta

So, like the title describes, I had it working when I first bought it, but after doing some simple stupid settings with the startmenu button using Windows 7 Start Button Changer.

How it works, is that it makes a single change to the explorer.exe, and allows you to change the startmenu button, and also backs up the original explorer.exe, so I already tried to restore the backup without positive result.
WindowFX still worked the first change, but then I wanted to change the button again with a different image, and it all stopped.

All default windows animations and AERO effects works, but WindowFX effects are gone.. Except the ones that let inactive windows become invisible, default AERO effects.

So, is there something I must do to fix this, or is there anyway for anyone to help me?
I even tried to use system restore, and restored my operative systems two days before the "hack"

You could give sfc /scannow a shot.

Open an administrative command prompt, type in sfc /scannow (yes, there is a space after sfc), hit enter.

Shift + right click, open command window here....assuming you're logged in as administrator.

Yes....what he said....

It'll restore the default Windows components....replacing any of the 'hacked' versions.

The issue with altered MS system files is they will almost always NOT play nice with something or other.....and in your case it's WinFX that's broken....;)

The above is correct. If you want a more fundamental, restorative repair do a chkdsk /f /r the same way as above. The tool will start on the next boot.

It takes a while to finish.

After running both a sfc, and chkdsk it came up empty handed, and still doesn't work.
I'm beginning to think that the only option available would be to reinstall windows. :-/
