End peace with pirates?
Hello,
I accidentially got cease-fire with pirates and neutral factions throug research as a tec rebell, And I want to attack these now.
How can I do this?
I don't find any way of ending this...

There is no way to attack the pirates and neutral factions again once you research Truce Amongst Rogues
You are doomed to be their allies for all eternity.
Isnt that stupid?
What game design decision justifies this?
Probably wasn't a "decision". They just didn't that the player would want to break the ceasefire until it was too late in the design stage to make a new UI for interacting with the pirates and militia. Then they were stuck with it.
Really the only practical issue is if you want to colonize the pirate base, or use the pirates guarding it to level up your titan. It's a bigger problem if you have a custom map or mod that uses militia controlled colonies. I had to redesign Truce Amongst Rogues completely in my Enhanced 4X mod to avoid this. You no longer get cease fires with them, but you get the ability to capture most militias with colony ships, and while the pirates will still attack you (and you them), they tend to go easier on you.
Isn't that just an invitation for spamming colony ships? Capture only takes 30s to cooldown and with 6 colonys you could probably skip fleet upgrades altogether in the first 6 or 7 minutes. You could build quite a sizeable fleet of militia ships without even trying.
Well in my implementation if you use it to capture militia, both your colony ship and the militia cannot phase jump for something like 3 or 5 minutes. That puts a bit of a speed break on it.
Thats great! How'd you implement that? I'd love to be able to put that as an effect on combat in general, you know, battle damage and all that.. Like, would it be possible to make it so that if a ship takes hull damage, it can't jump until it repairs itself?
btw, this is AseOfSpadez, my account stopped working for some reason.
If only there were easier research "switches" that turn on/off research items...
It would be an abuse of a game system.
The pirates are forced into the ceasefire by your research, it wasn't like they wanted it. Giving the player an option to end it whenever they chose (after profiting a whole lot by not needing to deal with their opposition naturally) would be far too good on the player.
Who does not like this option should not research it.
