1.004 beta available (1.01 pre-release)

A beta/pre-release of Fallen Enchantress 1.01 is available now available for download.

A patch installer for 1.00 is available from https://stardock.cachefly.net/FallenEnchantress-1.004_beta_update_setup.exe  for standalone installs direct from Stardock's store.

Steam users can update to the beta by right-clicking on the Fallen Enchantress entry in Steam and selecting Properties, Betas, and the 'Beta - 1.01 prerelease' option.

If you have previously applied one of Brad's "unofficial" builds, please download the release 1.00 EXE from http://sd.stardock.com/FE_100.zip and replace it before running the patch. You do not need to reinstall completely.

The 1.01 changelog notes are available at https://forums.elementalgame.com/434823

Enjoy!

WOOHOO!

Unfortunately I think I should probably stick with 1.00 until I finish the tutorial I've been recording.

Not available via Stardock central?
(Yes, I have enabled beta downloads in the settings)

Very cool.  Nakor, you need to get a stardock sig.

No, it's not available via Stardock Central. The 1.01 update will be.

I have a Stardock badge by my user and member #2. A sig would be overkill.

Nice.

So far I like the unrest weakness that Tarth gets because it fits their personality. But the symbol of a questionmark doesn't quite fit rebels. I don't think the Tarth are the riddlers minions (although that would be cool). I don't know what to put there, but I don't think a questionmark is the way to go.

A trio of upraised fists could represent unrest... (so it won't be confused with a hero ability like crushing blow).

Or a torch and a pitchfork ala angry villagers from Frankenstein.

Liked new trait points in beta, had a few run ins with duplicate stacks, but it seemed to resolve on it's own.  Are the dragonfly bracers meant to be free?  Those are nice, esp for a beastmaster!

only thing is that neither shows in the thread starter without digging.

Trojasmic - does this build still contains the bug you discovered concerning AI not paying for heroes and buildings and rushing several buildings simultaneously?

Minor Bug: When you get "Tactics II" the tool tip says it gives you +1 to init, which is in addition to the +1 from the first one.  When you mouse over the skill on your hero it still only says +1 however instead of the cumulative +2 which could really confuse people.  The bonus DOES appear to get applied.

The AI gold is super bugged in this.  In a normal game, turn 130, the AIs have tens of thousands of gold.

Xia, could you check the file coredifficultylevels.xml and check the starting funds ratio?

I am playing challenging, no real issues and definitely nothing like what you are describing.  Might be some odd process that got stuck in a loop or they grabbed a resource that produced some sort of error.

Ack, I can't get past the loading screen with the beta.

Another bug:  Dragons still kill themselves when they breathe fire.

Ok, it just took a while. I restarting new custom games a bunch of times, then the city resource markers for new cities stopped showing and the cloth map doesn't appear when zooming out either.

I checked the core difficulties, and it looks fine, 1.0 for normal.  But Resoln is in the lead and has 16,000 gold and that seems a bit unlikely.

I just checked and none of the other AIs seem to have that kind of cash, turn 193 and she has 10,000 which isn't impossible, but she has an income of -31.  I wonder if she isn't just getting gifted from the other AIs, protection money.

Sorry, I would delete this post if I knew how... it looks propoganda just adds to "city income", and the actual gold coming to you depends on the tax rate.

Really useless spell then, IMO.  Meditation is worth 2 - 6 mana for free while propoganda is only worth a couple gildar at most at the cost of 20 mana (+ upkeep, if there is one, I forget)

Another gold bug:

I cast propoganda on a 3 essence town and it wasn't giving any gold bonus.  Enchantment icon appears, but gold bonus doesn't show up in city detail summary, or income tab.

I cancelled the enchantment and didn't change my actual income either... so it's not just a display issue.

And now in turn 230, Resoln is almost broke.  I have no idea how they got 16,000 gold so quickly, and now have very little.  They seemed to spent it well, they shot right up the power charts, about 400 to the rest of us at about 100-150.

turn 230, Altar mysteriously now has 20,000 gold, with an income of 17.

Here is my save.  Notice that many of the nations have gold in the 20,000 range.  Gilden has 27,000 gold.
