Map Maker - Rivers?

I am trying to create a map using the in-game map maker, but am having trouble creating rivers. When I click, it is random what will happen: a floating waterfall, a river piece on a tile 1 or 2 away from where I clicked, a river piece where I want it to be but it won't be connected to the other existing river piece next to it, or nothing at all. It is rare that it will create a river piece at a location that I want. It will also crash if I try to make it work by clicking a lot.  Am I doing something wrong? I did import a WoM map I made a long time ago, would that cause the problem? I really don't want to have to re-create the terrain all over again for this map, but I would like to finish it now that FE is out.

Make sure you click the river tiles in order, or what you are describing will happen. Ie, if you have a straight line, click 1 2 3 4 5. Not 1 3 5 2 4.

I have no idea what happens when you try to import an E:wom map.

Thanks, that seems to work.

 

Another problem. After doing a bit of work on my map, I saved it and then reloaded it. It is now a completely randomized map (like if you selected new map, and did not hit the blank map option). The terrain I created was gone. 

I did a few tests: I created a new blank map called 00 test1 and created a smiley face with the terrain. I saved, got out, reloaded the map: new randomized map. I tried it again without the override old copy button checked, same result.

Anyone else have this problem?

I've noticed that after creating and saving a map I have to reload the game, otherwise when I load it up using New Game a random map gets generated. Perhaps it's the same for saving and loading within the map maker? Generally, I never open more than one map without restarting the game first.

 

If you want to reload a map you just made try restarting first.
