P7811-FX crash

I ran the tutorial and had a hard crash afer a few videos and starting to explore. On reboot, Windows Vista suggested getting the latest nvidia driver.  It turns out that there was a new one just this month that I installed.  Now the game gives a black screen that requires reboot.  I turned settings down to minimum on everything, but the game won't start.

I linked my debug.err file contents on pastebin.  The specs for the game appear to be met by my computer by a wide margin unless a Geforce 9800M GTS graphics card is not good enough.  Did I just waste $40 on a game I cannot play?
