Summoning HP cost and spells available

Hi all!

I played WoM back in the day and was suitably impressed and depressed by that. Now I am playing Fallen Enchantress and I must say, so far I absolutely love it.

However, I am in the campaign, and noticed I can research summoning, but summoning seems to eat hit points permanently from the sovereign. This would seem like a really bad thing to do in a (possibly long) campaign.

So: Is permanently actually permanently or does it work the same way as enchantment maintenance, and disappears once the creature dies?

Also, I am slightly unsure of how you learn spells. I've noticed that with fireballs, for instance, I get a strategic spell that lets a champion cast fireball, but they also get fireball as a fire mage? Does anything need to be researched for that?

Lastly, essence - do you get one per level of the city or something like that?

No you don't, not unless its specific to the campaign.

I think its permanent, I wont touch it.

You get spells from 2 sources, you can research a few basic spells in the research tree, but normally you gain spells from levelling a hero, and picking an advanced casting ability (Say "Adept Firemage" or whatever its called)

Try letting go of what you remember from War of Magic, and experience FE in "new eyes"... More gamers should experience new games in "New eyes"

A follow up question, if I may - Strength and such is referenced here and there but I do not see this stat on champions. Could someone elaborate on this?

The reason I mention it is that Destiny's Gift (100 mana spell) gives a boost to the 'base' stats - this sounds like str and such - but I cannot find out what effect it actually had.

I would love to hear where it is referenced, We used to have base attributes, but they were removed.

Destiny's Gift gives one of 3 items (I have only seen 3 through using them through the campaign so far)
+10 Base HP
+3 Base Attack
+3 Base Initiative.

It may be slightly different in the Sandbox game though.

Strength in this game means equip weight. If you add +20 strength to your champion or sovereign, that means he can equip another 20 pounds of stuff. Strength is not a base stat in this game as you might think of it traditionally.

Strength, Constitution, Intelligence etc. was referenced in the Hiergemon: Unit Stats.

Another question I have not been able to find the answer to:

Injuries (the kind champions get after going down), are they permanent or do they disappear over time or can be fixed somehow?

Strong in the force, this one is.

In regards to Strength, Dex, Con, etc.. those things are from the first game. Users/players don't get to see/feel those stats. Things like Attack, Defence, Dodge, etc. yes you can see those. Any reference to Str, Con, Dex, etc. is anachronistic. FE was streamlined a bit to make it easier/more enjoyable to learn and play.

Injuries, AFAIK unmodded there is one way and if you are lucky enough to obtain it, there's a potion of restoration that would remove ALL injuries and heal 100 hp to the champ who drank it. A modded game could add it to the store or make it a more commonly dropped item. In the betas, I got one as a quest reward. Since then, the rarity has increased and more quests added so you're not going to see it as often as Beta 3/4 etc..
