Sorry, Fallen Enchantress does not use Steamworks and the serial keys are not portable. The only way to download via Steam is to purchase from Steam.

Fix what? It's not broken. If you want Steam to do your support for you, you are gonna have to kick Steam a few bucks, by purchasing it from them.

Then can i have this useless key annulled and given a steam one please? I find extrmelly subpar from the company not have this kind of support, Paradox Interactive does so much better

Well, the other game you bought  was purchased without steam. You didn't have a problem with it then. If Stardock were to buy 100,000 steam keys, that would cost a ton. Taking away vital resources for the next content updates. Not really fair to criticize them for this. It would be nice, but there are costs preventing this. Updating from Stardock makes you take one extra step and there is a program to do it automatically in beta as we speak. The question is, how easily are you disappointed?

Well if all other companies can, im sure stardock can...

If you want the game on steam click on games and then add-non-steam game to you library. The only thing is that you must download your patches from stardock.

What other companies are giving a free game to 100,000 people that purchased it from a totally different source?

File is corrupt.  Wonderful.  3.5gb of useless.

Would have been nice to get Steam keys but oh well.

This guy provokes me. He is getting the game for free and acts like a spoiled child.

Taleworlds? Cyanide? Creative Assembly? Bethesda? Rockstar?

Stardock is pretty much the only company to do this. The biggest shame of this is that Stardock is the only company that really needs to, considering they can't figure out how to release updates and patches properly, or even include functioning automatic uninstallers with their betas so people who want download new versions don't have to go searching for every file and manually delete it, only to have all that effort become useless as they download a corrupt file from Stardock.

Making amends with the free upgrade is great and all, but at this point I'm not sure if all the trouble is worth it.

Check out stardock central. It automatically will check and download updates for you from stardock.

I guess your right this company has 0 commitment for it's customers... People per-purchased E:WoM and got Fallen Enchantress for free as well as the first expansion pack. Sure E:WoM was buggy and didn't have the greatest launch, but what did the people who pre-purchased Legends of Pegasus get? If you really want the game on Steam so badly, then buy it on Steam.

It's not a matter of wanting the game on Steam or not.

I want the game to work. It's a shame that Steam seems to be the only way this will happen, and that is impossible without dropping another forty bucks.

Don't be so rude.

You think SD hasn't already pursued options to intergrate SD keys with Steam keys?? They GAVE the game away to everyone who owned WOM for pete's sake.

Steam wants people to buy the product from THEM....not SD. If you want the SBS (steam babysitting service) to handle your software, you'll have to give them their due.

I keep getting corrupt files downloading from Stardock.  I'm not being rude, I just want to play the game.  I guess you truly get what you pay for.

I was doing direct download from Firefox.  When I go to install, I get a box that says "File is corrupt" and some other useless message.  I'll try SDC.

I hate to be the one to break this to you but if you are having trouble downloading large files from the Internet, you either have some bad RAM (most likely) or bad disk sectors (less likely).

RAM testers basically simulate putting a big file into memory and seeing if it fails a CRC check.

Note that older browser will have problem downloading the game due to it being larger than 2GB (int vs long long). I've used firefox 16 and have used chrome. Also with a game this large if you have any sort of memory issue (parity errors) it is likely to cause issues due to more memory being touched (though to be honest here I'm more familiar with how linux manages i/o buffers than windows).

Buy it from Steam.

I do wish I could have installed it through Steam using my Stardock CD key, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

Seriously?  All those other companies gave away a free game through Steam to people who had bought an earlier game directly from the developer?  Strange that I've never heard about this.

And why didn't he start his own thread, since his problem is different from that of the OP, and doesn't even reflect the thread's title?  It's easy to get overlooked if you attach your complaint to someone else's--and that much more likely, if it's a different complaint, entirely.
