Number of Allied Victors - Removed?

I sat down for a long private game with several friends yesterday and noticed for the first time that the option to choose a number of allied victors has been removed since diplomacy. This was a major bummer for my group as we usually use that option in large, unlocked team games to prevent large alliances. Is there a reason it was removed? Is there any chance it will be added back in later?

Noticed this myself....

I actually prefer the way it is now, as before it was very tedious in FFA games because you needed a certain ammount of people to win.

I can understand your issue, but imho the current implementation is better.

How is being able to have 9 people team up in a FFA and together defeat 1 player to give all 9 players the win an improvement? Maybe I don't understand fully how it works now, but I liked it better when you could say only X players can win in the end.

Also liked the old implementation better.

It is called politics... choose your allys wisely.... if you dont... you die.

As you do in any FFA game actually... sometimes just bad luck.... sometimes bad politics.

I realize that it's certainly realistic to not have that setting. However, for gameplay reasons it's nice to define what is in affect the largest possible team size. In Diplomacy I mainly played with a 6 person FFA but with 3 max victors with the intention that the game would eventually turn into a 3v3, but I would (potentially) be able to choose my allies this way based on game conditions this way.

So is this a bug?

Or did we miss the change in the patch readme?

And if enough bitch, can we get it back to the old way?

It's been that way since the first Rebellion beta. I know I mentioned it then but no one cared at the time. That would have been the time to speak up about it... :S

It's all in the master plan to make SP harder...you never know just how many AIs are gonna team up on you...

Pretty much all the AIs, but one or two, would ally, or cease fire, with each other, and maybe half the AIs would do so with you. It happened a lot in Entrenchment.

Seriously though, is there any reason NOT to put it back in? Would it take too much time to recode it from Diplo? I can't imagine that being the case.

Devs, please put this feature back in as it made for fantastic unlocked team games.

You know you didn't have to use the option even in Diplomacy.
