Chosen don't have weapons?

Not sure if this is a bug or not, but I'm playing a game where I have gotten the ability to train Chosen units.  They seem great...start with lots of armor and magic items...but they have no weapons.  Their attack is incredibly low which makes them pointless to build at the late stage in the game where they come in.  The description for them says they are armed with magic weapons and items, but when I built them they were equipped with no weapons at all.

 

Anyone encounter this before?  Am I missing something?  Is this a bug?

That'd be a bug, since they should equip burning axes, or a similarly strong cutting weapon.  Do you have a screenshot?

I can try to grab one later.  I thought that maybe they weren't equipping weapons because I hadn't yet researched Mystic Forging (or whatever it's called), so I researched that and then tried to upgrade them but there was no option for upgrading.

My chosens usually have hammers, when magic tech arrives they usually have lightning hammers ;)

I had this happen too.  I don't use the premade units though, so I didn't pay it much mind.
