[.981.2] Wildlands attack monsters?

I just witnessed some fire shrills attack some wolves. Is this an intended effect or an unfortunate side effect. The fire shrills were a wildland denison and the wolves were not.

Don't get me wrong here, I do like the effect, gives life to the world.
