Yea, I've never used it becasue of that cost.
imo its perfect
they are not mages... you cant have a spell that is comparable to real spells
Its range 3 for 8 damage, it's already not comparable to real spells. It's too costly. 12 mana would seem a high cost for it, I would say 8, but 22 is freaking unusable.

Ok Mr. Perfect... will you please let the Internet know how often you use Hurl Boulder?
Ill agree with a 3 range spell, especially because it doesn't seem to scale (You cant tell from these new useless descriptions).

Maybe if it had "overkill" (dmg x unit in stack) it might make more sense.
Also armor would block that damage. So it's really bad.
burning hands is similar dmg and range 1...
maybe 15 mana dunno
Ok Mr. Perfect... will you please let the Internet know how often you use Hurl Boulder?
well the point is i dont want this spell to be an option
i want it to be an "emergency i cant go melee i just want something to do" skill
in this optic it has its role, which is marginal and very situational, i basically want to use this only when my man is hardly damaged and cant go melee at all i put something else in front etc
but you may not agree on my vision of its role, i get it its just a point of view
Lord, I didn't even think of that, this means you are probleby spending 22 mana and doing 2-3 points of damage. 22 mana to throw a rock from close distance.
Yea, if it had overkill, it would be worth it, becasue then it would be useful agaisnt soldiers, not heroes or single monsters, but it would have at least a use.
You do more damage just throwing a rock from the ground.
Give him a bloody throwing dagger and throw out the spell ![]()
Or make the spell worthwhile ![]()

What I would do: No mana cost (it's not magic) but it takes two turns. Put a two turn cooldown. Has a chance to stun (or does that come automatically with blunt damage). Damage scales with strength (8 + strength/2?).
Whats this strength your talking about?
They phased that out in beta 4 I think it was.

Yea, and that's really overly complicated solution to this. I prefer a solution that takes us one or two steps, like adding overkill or really reducing mana cost.
the problem is there isnt in the game a magic dmg for earth things, so they do random stuff mostly resistable
but still lets compare the n1 school of damage dealing
burning hands
cooldown2
dmg 8+4 per shard but HALVED if resisted
range 1
mana cost 10
hurl boulder
cooldown 3
dmg 8+2 per shard, but CANNOT be resisted
range 3
mana cost 22
so basically on cd and ranged they both win one and lose 1
damage is hard to say but you have consider that early stuff usually has nearly no armor, while you may find something fire resistant or immune
also you still can get a random resist with burning hands while you cant with hurl boulder
mana cost is much better for burning
so i agree mana cost could be reduced slighly but not much more than that, this is still a ranged spell and its lvl 1 so not supposed to be that good after a bit, same as with burning hands
and fire IS the dmg school, earth damage spells HAS to be inferior
At the very least cut the mana to somewhere between 8-12.
yes reducing mana cost seems the only thing to do id go with 12 ![]()

well whatever...
Didn't mean to be rude, so sorry for that, while I liked your idea about scaling, its just to find another attribute.
I personally still find 22 mana to be an extraordinarily high amount compared to throwing a buff on a unit before combat, and dismissing it after.
As I said too, another issue I have with the current Hurl Boulder, is its just a mana expensive version of the throwing knife, while this is ok atleast make it notably better than throwing knifes.
