Aye, and Diplomats do not have to be stationed at such posts. They have to agree to go to posts that are danger zones. The flare up was sudden, but I doubt he was unaware of the risks. He was doing a brave thing.

Every gamer runs out of 1-ups eventually. :'( RIP

 

As an aside, I know in another MMO game I've played, when major players die the whole sector usually assembles their fleets around the diseased's base in tribute for a moment of silence. Does Eve have a similar tradition? It would be cool to watch.

That would be amazing, In the clip Myfist0 posted they are naming space stations after him and they want to place a virtual monument in the game in honor to him...

Yeah its pretty cool, ships filling the entire screen and none of them firing at each other, just sitting there while players leave their thoughts. And if someone dares try to troll the thing well... its just not a good idea to get 100 battleship captains mad. It would be amazing to see such a thing in Eve, just as its a high quality game.

I just saw this story a little while ago on the news... I had no idea they were talking about EVE... the whole situation is horrible!

I didn't know him, or play against him, but knowing he was a gamer I still feel like I've somehow lost a brother....

Truly amazing what the guys over at EvE has done, where it is spelled out "RIP Vile Rat", is a ship that is being controlled by one gamer and when you see the close up at the 18m 30s mark, wow!!!!
