Modding: Questions and Request

Hi,

I am playing "Galactic Civilizations 2 Ultimate" and like the item display of its included expansion "Dark Arnor" (or whatever the name is). Is there a way to get this layout into the basic GC2 game?

And besides, what are the cheat codes for the extension "Dark Arkanor"? The cheat codes of the basic game GC2 seem not to work here.

I also want to be able to import ships done in "Dark Arnor" into the basic game, and vice versa.

Is there a way to make screenshots of my own ships, or even to exchange them with other players?

I need someone to tell me/us, how to import 3D models into the game. Plenty 3D models out there, would be nice to have them inside the game.

Also, are there any links to player-made ship equipment items? I would love to enrich my own ships.

And I want to create custom races. How to do this? I am a bloody beginner, never modded before. Want t know how to create a race file, and associate a graphic with it. Thanks.

Finally, I need a mod which "mirrors" a ship design on demand. Example: I create a regular middle section of the ship. Then I want to work on the right side's big hangar deck, and want that all items done on the right side are mirrored to the left side, so the ship has two hangars - one at the left and one at the right.

Oh, and one more question: I want to be able to create clusters of items, like entire ship sections, and then to add those to ship models. Modular building, in some way. Any mod or technique allowing this? This way, I could speed up the development and get really nice ships out.

Most of that can be done, the bits which can't are your cluster of items bit, and mirroring the ship, the bits which are difficult to do are creating races, and the easy bit is giving someone else your ship designs.

Don't know whether you can import DA ships into base game.

Creating races is easy. I use the Spore creature creating bit to generate the PNG file and then put that into the portrait file, then the race logo is the hard bit.

The next step is writing your race into the game, which is easy, but long winded, involving editing game files to set your race up the way you want.

Giving someone else the ship design is as easy as copying and pasting the ship file in the saved folder.
