Bonjour Jean-Pierre,

/me thinks hard, but realises that's the only French he knows, except for.........Au Revoir.

Umm.... J'ai un grand crayon?

(That's the only French I remember, and I probably got the gender wrong. And I probably got the adjective on the wrong side of the noun. Oh well...)

I also used to know some curse words in Greek.

Ah well, If you are talking curses, I can curse in virtually every language there is! Working in casinos for 25 years, I think I can safely say I have been called most things in most languages.
/me goes off to practice his Flemish and Lithuanian swear words on the dog................

Well, my dad's side of the family would yell at me in Portugese. Though I didn't know the words, I did know it amounted to "Sit down and shut up!".

I also made an abortive attempt at learning Finnish. At my best I could say "apple" and "house".

I guess gambling is a universal language. Sort of like Esperanto

Chris: I reckon the only "universal" theory that can be applied to gambling is "You lose, the casino wins"!

Boxxi, the only I ever won was a stapler in a Cub Scout raffle.

Nite, I always though Finnish was interesting as it is doesn't spring from the same roots as the romance languages (English, French,...) or am I thinking Indo-European.

Anyways, I even have a copy of the Kalevala (English translation of course) that I've been meaning to to read the past 10 years but never got around to it.

Grrr. Insert "thing" bewteen "only" and "I".

/me morphs into smartass mode

Finnish, like Lithuanian, is a completely separate language family. Unlike all other languages spoken in Europe, which stem from Sanskrit (actually something older ("indo-european" or so), but that's the closest thing). English, by the way, is germanic, not roman.

Okay, so I've got this thing with language origins. Stop looking at me like that!

Oh, and I'm not allowed in casino's on my sneakers. Stupid dress codes.

/me nods dumbly at Professor Crae

Crae: maybe it's because you're "on" your sneakers and not "in" them.......

/me wants a pair of those!

Actually that'd be an intersting fashion trend. You stand on top of your sneakers and then lace them up over your bear feet. It'd be cooler if you also used sock garters too.
