Multiplicity 2 - Sharing Clipbord (check for changes)

I run a text to speech reader on my second computer

the text to speech reader is set up to read any new text that is copied to the clipboard.

So if i copy text on main and then change to second it will start reading the text but when i then go back to main and then back to second it will start to read the text from the start because the text is recopied the the clipboard.

I did not have this problem with Multiplicity 1 because it did this simple check before copying anything.

so what i am asking for is can you plz add back in this check thx

Thanks for reporting this.  We have made a modification for the next update to stop MP resetting the clipboard when the clipboard already contains the current clipboard contents.

I have a similar problem. Different application, but every time I switch with text on the clipboard the application freaks out as soon as I switch or interact with it. I'm not sure if it then also corrupts the clipboard but I am frequently unable to paste after the application locks up for it's 1-2 seconds.

Updates:

  • I'm certain it has to do with the clipboard. The app has multiple modules, one of which checks clipboard. App works fine as long as I don't load that module.
  • Problem occurs whether there is something in the clipboard or not.
  • Problem occurs even if I disable clipboard sharing entirely.
  • Did not have this problem with prior version of Multiplicity.

Perhaps add an option to hold down a key (like shift can be enabled for switching) where the clipboard only comes with if alt or control is also pressed?

Can we know the name of the app?  Thanks

Oh. Good point. It's free so you guys can even download it and test it yourselves:

EVEHQ (http://www.evehq.net/project-evehq/)

To reproduce the issue:

  1. Load EVEHQ on a 2nd machine (controlled by Multiplicity)
  2. It should work even if you don't add any EVE API Keys.
  3. Switch to Plug-Ins Ribbon (Ribbon Tabs right above the Ribbon Bar)
  4. Select the Fittings plugin (this is the plugin with the clipboard import/export)
  5. Do anything (might require at least copying something at some point on the primary system).

EDIT: I forgot to mention a couple of things:

  • This is not the only app I have the problem with. It is just the most obvious and annoying... plus it's free and you should be able to download and test for yourselves.
  • Another symptom (probably of the same thing) ... the clipboard clears itself when switching PCs and one of these apps is in the forefront or gets focus.

EDIT2: The most widely used app I get this happening in is Chrome. It doesn't happen consistently, but I've had it exhibit stupid behavior a few times now when trying to paste.

Update:

I installed a newer version of the EveHQ application (wiped all settings) and the problem went away. I also haven't had the problem in chrome in a while.
