[0.951] Henchmen: greatly improved, but two small bugs

Started an Altarian game in the latest beta and researched up to the Henchmen tech. They're vastly improved (as is, by the way, the unit design screen - traits are laid out far better), mainly because they can now have mounts. So I'm thrilled with that & can't wait until I have a few of the little buggers running around and levelling up. Even back when they were buggy I had a level 17 guy (who had started out a support unit to one of my proper heroes) charging around the scrapyard tearing up units of scrap golems with Sarog's Axe, so I can only imagine what the new and improved ones will do!

However, two minor bugs I encountered: if I design a new Henchman unit, it doesn't appear in the list of available units, although if I edit an existing henchman with a new name it does appear as a new unit, so, workaround sorted. This has been reported before with henchmen and some of the other special unit types, so I'm sure you guys already have it on your to-do list, just noting that it's still happening.

The other is that while the three pre-designed henchmen are now attached to the Henchmen tech, several others that I designed in previous versions became available when I researched Heroes - in fact, I already had one in the build queue before I noticed there was a separate Henchmen tech now!

Oh, and I'll upload some saves here later when I'm back on my other PC, as aside from the bug report the game generated the perfect map - lots of city sites, some with essence and some without, level-appropriate monsters (although Resoln still somehow got wiped early) and plenty of the starting-level quests that the Altarians in particular need.

Getting the same issue with custom Henchmen not showing up on the build option list.

Editing allows me to change their equipment and looks, but does not allow for changing Traits.

In addition, Henchmen seem to be unable to equip Staves, like the Ice Staff. If they are purchased from the shop the money will be deducted but the weapon will not be equipped or in the units inventory.

i had bugs trading items to henchmen

few items disappeared

also as general gameplay i dont get how you guys can have them early

ok now the rech is fast and i like it but still the cost is high unless you luck with cities it takes a while to get one

but later on they get better and better with new exp (too fast in last patch) they can catch up soon

anyway i still think they should be much faster to be trained so you start using them soon instead of normal troops

End of ddd888's quote

In this case, I lucked out a bit and got lots of weak quests near me, so I was able to raise the influence to hire them quickly. I prioritised  the Heroes tech because there was a hero I needed to get on my side as well, so I was able to queue henchmen before I could build pretty much anything other than spearmen. Once I had the first load of magic weapons I was then able to build my previously-designed units, but not the new one I made. I was helped by lucking out on starting zones - I was in an incredibly fertile area with no-one except Gilden nearby, so I was able to get lots of cities with 1-3 essence founded quickly.

Thanks guys for confirming the bugs & the extra detail, I hadn't researched to staves or traded any items that had disappeared, I just assumed that since the horses bug was fixed the rest had been too.
