Grandpa!

Grandpa!

I just voted in the latest pool and when I went to see the results, I saw the my age (35-64 year old) category have the majority of the votes.

I knew that the averadge age here was higher, but I never thought we were that old.

Way to go Grandpas!

I think Froggy is just upset that he turns 31 next month....oh, wait, I forgot....He turns 29. We made a deal on my last birthday (30th) that we would both stay 29.....So, I'm 29

I will always be 29.

Doreen - come on, the fact is, and it is a fact, time changes people. Call it what you want but people who are 40 behave differently than people who are 13.

When talking to people on-line, it doesn't normally take me long to figure out whether they're a teen or whether they're an adult or a "mature" adult. Why? Because they act very differently.

The interests, the views, the attitudes of people changes over time in general.

back... (pouring rain over here had to run out for my son) hehe
okay let's get back to this subject (I find so interesting)

okay lets dissect this shall we?
yes time does change ppl physically however my point is not about the physical differences but the mental differences that may or may not happen during the course of ones life...

Brad you say ppl at 40 "behave" differently then a 13 year old?

Oh is that so? I've seen some members of this here community run around and say "F*** you" to a mere 13 year old that was just acting out now don't you think the 40 year old person should know that? but nooooooooo
some 40 year olds act worse then the 13 year old why cuz they "Should" know better at 40 years old right?! hehe

and I've seen some 13 year olds behave more adult then the 40 year olds, it's amazing to ignore the age and look at the person,
sometimes it's a false sense of stereotyping when you get older and hung up on your age...

all I'm attempting to say is (but doing a poor job of)
you can catagorize by age yes but mentality/age together nah that cannot be catagorized so easily... hehe

And I "think" good skinning site has "All" age groups not just one particular age group.

In the real world, Doreen, people do change with age. Simply because some people who are 40 behave poorly doesn't change the fact that older people, generally, behave more differently than younger people.

As I mentioned previously, when conversing with people on the net, I can usually determine whether they are a young person or not based on their behavior. It is not accurate to say that young people behave worse than older people. But it is accurate to say that young people behave differently than older people.

You're free to disagree with my conclusion but I'm pretty comfortable with the validity of my statement.

Doreen: There are exceptions to everything. There are some young peoplr who are wiser than there age and some that are dumber than theres. I for one am glad that I don't act like I did when I was young. I wouldn't be here today. Its called maturing. Some do it young, some do it when they are older and some never mature. So as a majority you can catagorize mentality and age together.

Deltaz I heard you the first time... hehe
(I happen to love going off the subject)

okay well *sigh* I tried to start a debate but it fizzed out...
hehe

Doh! Sorry Deltaz, I deleted one of your responses and it wiped out all of them.

What he said was basically "Let's get back to the topic at hand."

Doreen: You started a debate a debate has to involve assertions and evidence to link the two. If your assertion is that age does't play a role in behavior then I would have to say that you're sadly mistaken.

I think a more interesting hypothesis would go like this:

Once upon a time there was skinz.org which had (by today's standards) a small but very vibrant community that served all age groups. When skinz.org went down, that group split in two and formed the core of two very different sites - deviantART and WinCustomize with the other sites having more balanced demographics. I think that this has had some positive effects, one of which is greater cooperation because they don't feel like they are "competing" head to head.

I know you (Doreen) liked the old Skinz.org Doreen but they did not work well with other sites. But history has shown that WinCustomize and deviantART have a very close relationship as well as Deskmod, LOS, and Skinbase. I think this "fragmentation" is what largely led to the current relatively positive relationship between the sites.

I have yet to see adults participate in threads such as:
- What is your favorite color?
- Who's hotests, Britney or Christina?
- ASL?
etc.

Well Brad to be honest, I cannot even debate w/ you regarding the Skinz.org comment you made about and it not working well w/ the other sites cuz me never really strayed away from skinz.org I only knew & hung out on "that one site" until it went down and now I'm all over the place so I cannot compare from then to now really...
